NMIMS Bengaluru Hosts an Enriching Guest Session on ISRO’s Space Exploration Featuring Noted Scientist Kalpana Arvind
November 16, 2023: On November 10, 2023 in Bangalore, SVKM's NMIMS Bengaluru presented a thought-provoking and interesting talk titled "ISRO's Space Exploration," which included Kalpana Arvind, an Associate Director of LEOS-ISRO. Throughout the discussion, the distinguished speaker offered extensive perspectives on ISRO's noteworthy accomplishments and upcoming space exploration initiatives. After graduating with a degree in electronics and communication, Kalpana Arvind has had a distinguished career with ISRO for more than 37 years. The scientist has worked at ISRO for more than three decades in a variety of roles. During that time, she has made a substantial contribution to a number of nationally significant projects, including the highly successful Chandrayan-1, 2 and 3 space exploration programs as well as the most recent Aditya L1. She is currently employed with ISRO in the Laboratory for Electro-Optics Systems (LEOS) as the Associate Director.
Developing Sensor Processing Electronics Packages for the wildly popular Indian National Satellite - INSAT-2 series constituted Kalpana Arvind's first job at ISRO. Thus far, forty INSAT-2 packages have been launched with success as a part of well-known space operations such as the Mars Orbiter Mission and Chandrayaan-1, 2, and 3. Sensor subsystems for pre-launch, launch, and post-launch activities have been presented by the scientist. She has created sophisticated MEMS-based accelerometers and fiber optic-based gyroscopes for the Inertial Reference Unit and Accelerometer, respectively, among other achievements.
As interested attendees learned firsthand about ISRO's cutting-edge research and its role in promoting space exploration on a global scale, the session was a comprehensive learning experience. "In the vast realms of space exploration, ISRO has achieved the most remarkable breakthroughs," Kalpana Arvind stated. "Chandrayan 3's soft landing on the lunar surface's south pole and the recent Aditya L1 mission exploring the sun are just two examples." With amazing projects like Gaganyaan in the works and state-of-the-art tools at hand, India's prospects for space exploration and research are promising.

Of course, according to Business Today's list of business schools, NMIMS Bengaluru Campus ranks 32nd in India.
As part of the international student exchange, NMIMS has partnered with Grenoble Ecole De Management, France, for a student exchange programme.
