B.Des. in Humanising Technology - Batch of 2025

A Complete Design Learning Experience.
Placements: Almost 100% of us have secured internships from our college, with many of us receiving PPOs from companies. The common roles offered to us are those of UI/UX Designers and Product Designers. The curriculum includes an accredited industry internship module in the final year, providing valuable industry exposure and hands-on experience as part of the course.
Infrastructure: The college is located on the 6th floor of the UPG College. The facilities include all the basic amenities required by designers, including a workshop with a variety of machines, including 3D printers, a laser cutter, and a variety of tools. We also have a dedicated user testing lab to test our design. We have access to the NMIMS Library and all the canteens located in the NMIMS and Mithibai campus.
Faculty: The college had a good mix of internal faculty members as well as external faculty members who brought professional industry experience and had great content knowledge. The college also arranged external speaker sessions, some of which were highly insightful. The curriculum included all the aspects of design, right from research to conceptualization to user testing the final design with users. We were also taught the design registration process and how to protect our designs through IPs and copyrights. Lastly, we were also taught the business aspect of design, focusing on marketing and selling our design.
Other: The course is really good for aspiring designers, particularly those focused on UI/UX and product. The two foundation years taught us every skill required for designers, including photography, videography, and also basic coding. The third year provided us with opportunities to create many portfolio-worthy projects.

SOD - Potential for Improvement.
Placements: A few of our seniors were placed at companies like Walmart and Deloitte with great top-paying packages. I haven't met most of my seniors due to both of us being busy with our own projects. The new batch is set to complete their capstone soon, and after they graduate, they will start looking for placements.
Infrastructure: The facilities are pretty decent; they're kept clean and tidy when we aren't working. While there are many facilities, there are usually extensive procedures when gaining access to them, and lots of people's permission is required. If the faculty isn't present and doesn't regularly check the mail, there may be delays in projects. This is mainly for our Builder's Sanctum, 3D printers, UT Labs, and any tools.
Faculty: While the course has some interesting topics, not enough time is given to properly flesh them out, especially the topics related to software skills. The modules are very short, and we aren't able to expand our learning in class. There are a few faculty members who are good at their job but not too skilled at teaching it. Finding faculty who are also equipped to teach will help progress our learning further.
Other: I chose this course because it has a bit of everything, and I wanted to see what I could become good at and where my interests lie. The course is a bit exhausting, so you aren't given any time for extracurricular activities. The time management of this course could be improved, with a bit more communication between students and faculty relating to assignments and a bit more preparedness when it comes to a few of the faculty. Mithibhai College has a lot of events that you could attend. Our course has some seminars from good companies, though they usually schedule the seminars after a long day of college, so most of us are too exhausted to pay attention.

It is good for students who want to explore design and technology.
Placements: The School of Design provides great placement opportunities and guarantees 100% placement for every batch. Companies like PwC and DEPT hire students for roles like design intern, production, visual design, and interaction design intern. The salary package offered ranges between 6-10 LPA.
Infrastructure: NMIMS School of Design offers great infrastructure with well-equipped classrooms featuring the latest technology to support student learning. Each classroom has Wi-Fi. The campus includes labs and machines like 3D printers and CNC machines for rapid prototyping and user testing.
Faculty: The multidisciplinary course structure of the program allows you to gain knowledge about various aspects of design. It is quite well-rounded and a good start for someone who is interested in design and technology. Teachers are helpful and approachable. Visiting faculty members also come to teach us.

Absolutely satisfied with the faculty.
Placements: In our class, we have a total of 40 students. The average annual package for our senior students this year was 12 Lacs. DELL emerged as the top recruiting company. A significant 60 percent of our third-year students secured internships in renowned companies. The highest position offered to our students was that of junior product designers.
Infrastructure: The college offers complimentary Wi-Fi access to all students, and classrooms are equipped with smartboards to enhance our learning experience. Additionally, there is a library where we can borrow books. The hostel where I reside provides excellent accommodation with amenities such as three meals a day, free Wi-Fi, and laundry services. Moreover, the menu at the hostel changes on a weekly basis.
Faculty: Our faculty is extremely supportive, and the majority of our instructors possess practical industry knowledge, which allows them to offer valuable insights. We adhere to the principle of learning by doing, and if you approach your assignments, deadlines, and faculty with honesty, the semester exams can be relatively straightforward.
Other: I selected this course because design offers a wide range of fields to explore and learn about, allowing you to make informed decisions about your future path. However, I do wish that internships were available in the first and second years of the course. Additionally, college events typically occur in January and February.

Love the curriculum and practical experience NMIMS School of Design offers!
Placements: The graduation batches of 2018–2022 achieved a remarkable 100% placement rate with an impressive stipend of Rs 80,000. Top companies like Deloitte, Axis Bank, PwC, and many more are annual top recruiters. The course emphasizes placements and internships, preparing us students for industrial experience. Based on the trend I have observed, most students tend towards UI/UX by the end of the course.
Infrastructure: The NMIMS SOD campus is on the 6th floor of the Mithibai Building and has proper Wi-Fi, clean washrooms, and labs, along with 3D printing facilities. The classrooms are adequately equipped with locker facilities and smartboards. Design schools are generally hectic, and until 7-8 p.m., we are in college, making the campus our second home. I haven't used hostel services so far.
Faculty: The faculty is highly qualified and helpful. At SOD, we address our faculty as mentors since they guide and provide feedback throughout our entire process. However, the implementation of that feedback is left up to the students to explore various things. The course curriculum is excellent, providing us with extensive learning opportunities. Term-end examinations (TEE) at the end of each semester involve submissions, with no written exams.
Other: I chose this course solely due to its unique and practical curriculum. I don't think any other design school offers such an extensive curriculum as the NMIMS School of Design.
