Q:   Is B.Sc. at Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science worth the investment?

A:
{Source: B.Sc. students & alumni}

Based on the reviews and feedback from current students and alumni, here's what we've learned:

* Placement Record: Unfortunately, the placement record for the B.Sc. programme at Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science is poor. None of the students reported getting placements in the biotechnology industry, and most got placed in customer service or sales jobs. While some companies did visit the campus, the pay packages were relatively low (average range: INR2-3 LPA).
* Teaching Quality: On the positive side, many students praised their teachers, describing them as helpful, knowledgeable, and experienced. The teachers' ability to explain concepts clearly and their willingness to assist with doubts were highlighted as strengths.
* Infrastructure and Facilities: The college has decent infrastructure, with good classrooms, a well-stocked library, and recreational facilities. However, some students felt that the Wi-Fi connectivity was poor, and there were issues with the hostel accommodation.
* Course Curriculum: The course curriculum received mixed reviews. While some students found it relevant to the industry, others felt that it was outdated and didn't provide enough practical training.
* Festivals and Campus Life: The college hosts various festivals and events, including Alegria, which is considered one of the best fests in Mumbai. Students appreciated the vibrant campus life and social activities.
* Value for Money: Given the poor placement record and limited industry connections, it's unclear whether investing in a B.Sc. programme at Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science is worthwhile. While the college has some strong points, it may not be the best choice for students seeking employment opportunities in the biotechnology sector.

In conclusion, while Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science has some strengths, particularly in terms of teaching quality and campus life, its placement record and limited industry connections raise concerns about the value proposition for prospective students.

Strong Placement & Good Facilities.
Placements: The percentage of students placed in my course is 78%. Unfortunately, no package was offered for my course. However, TCS, Capgemini, Infosys, and Wipro actively participate in placements, and 70% of students secured internships. The top roles offered in this course include Economics, Data Analyst, Financial Analyst, and Statistical Investigator.
Infrastructure: The facilities are good; teachers use voice amplifiers to ensure that their lectures are audible throughout the entire classroom. While the college Wi-Fi is not very strong and is only available to the teachers. The labs are excellent, with plenty available for different courses. Additionally, the library is clean and well-organized.
Faculty: Teachers are really helpful, and all the teachers are well-qualified and competent. The quality of teaching is excellent. The course is highly relevant, and the college helps you comprehensively for the job market. The semester exams are somewhat challenging, with a minimum passing percentage of 40%.
Other: I chose BSE Economics because I have a strong interest in the subject and believe it offers excellent career prospects. What I appreciate most about this course is that it opens up numerous opportunities for my future. So far, I haven't found anything that needs improvement. The college events are well-organized, with something always happening to ensure students enjoy their college life to the fullest. Additionally, there are plenty of extracurricular activities, and the teachers encourage us to participate and make the most of our college experience.

It is really a good college, encouraging us to study hard.
Placements: 76 percent of students are placed, often as data analysts. Economics is very useful for a business background, making it easier for students who pursue an MBA. It emphasizes the importance of economics in the country and helps students learn more about business and market economics, which is crucial.
Infrastructure: All the facilities are of good quality. The canteen food is hygienic and clean, providing a very good experience. There are also many sports and games available, keeping students active and more knowledgeable while helping them focus on their studies.
Faculty: The teachers are very good and teach effectively. Although semester exams are difficult, the teachers put in a lot of effort and provide thoughtful, practical examples, making it easier to understand concepts.
Other: I am very passionate about learning economics, and the college events are excellent.

Pillai College has the best events in Navi Mumbai. Pillai College is famous for events only.
Placements: My course is full of information technology, and we learn many different programming languages, including Python, Java, HTML, and C++. In fact, our course is similar to computer science. The best part is that Pillai College has the best placement record, so I'm confident that we will have a great career after graduation.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure at Pillai College is good. Each course has its own department, and Wi-Fi is available everywhere on campus. The classrooms are neat and well-maintained, and there's a library for students to study in.
Faculty: Pillai College has the best teachers. They are very helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable, and the teaching quality is amazing. The exams in this college are not very difficult, and the passing marks are 24 out of 60. Almost 90% of the students in my course pass every year.

The faculty and facilities are good. A well rounded education.
Placements: There is no placement for the course; they either place students in customer service jobs or sales jobs instead of the biotechnology industry. The placement service provided by them does not exist. There are job fairs and interviews scheduled by the college, but most of them are for customer service jobs and have nothing to do with biotechnology.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure and facilities are pretty good in the college. We do get free Wi-Fi after we sign in using our email address. The library is modern, with a lot of available options. The classrooms are well-equipped with projectors and proper ventilation. The hostel life is good as well; the food comes directly from the college canteen, and they have all the basic utilities available.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and approachable, they are always there for us to solve our doubts even on mail and phones. Most of the professors has a Ph.D. and have relevant industry experience. The course curriculum itself is pretty relevant to the industry with more practical knowledge. The exams are not very difficult as the curriculum gives us the core knowledge of the subject so it makes it easier to give exams.
Other: I chose this course because I wanted to get into pharmaceutical research, as it provides a great base for it. The best thing is the professors; they are always available for the students. Apart from this, the fests and campus crowd are top-notch.

Honest review about my college: some people love and want to pursue their future here.
Placements: The placement cell at Pillai is very good, as many companies come there and everyone gets a good enough package. I have heard and also met people who have had interviews at Pillai and who got packages at Pillai. I have heard of people getting a starting salary of 5 LPA, which is pretty good for a starting salary.
Infrastructure: Pillai provides various different facilities for its students. They provide a good court, equipment and couches for the sports section. The library is also well maintained and placed. They have good-quality food in their canteen. The labs are available to all the students at college times to work on their projects or assignments.
Faculty: Teachers have been very helpful in my course. They provide good teaching and are also helpful in solving the doubts or queries of every student. Their teaching quality is also unique and quite understanding for all the students. The IT course is also well settled, as it has all the necessary stuff that is needed to be IT-ready in the near future. Exams are also kept at a medium level of toughness (from my perspective). .
