B.Sc. in Biotechnology - Batch of 2022
Offered by Pillai College of Arts, Commerce and Science

The faculty and facilities are good. A well rounded education.
Placements: There is no placement for the course; they either place students in customer service jobs or sales jobs instead of the biotechnology industry. The placement service provided by them does not exist. There are job fairs and interviews scheduled by the college, but most of them are for customer service jobs and have nothing to do with biotechnology.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure and facilities are pretty good in the college. We do get free Wi-Fi after we sign in using our email address. The library is modern, with a lot of available options. The classrooms are well-equipped with projectors and proper ventilation. The hostel life is good as well; the food comes directly from the college canteen, and they have all the basic utilities available.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and approachable, they are always there for us to solve our doubts even on mail and phones. Most of the professors has a Ph.D. and have relevant industry experience. The course curriculum itself is pretty relevant to the industry with more practical knowledge. The exams are not very difficult as the curriculum gives us the core knowledge of the subject so it makes it easier to give exams.
Other: I chose this course because I wanted to get into pharmaceutical research, as it provides a great base for it. The best thing is the professors; they are always available for the students. Apart from this, the fests and campus crowd are top-notch.

This is a good college for fests and events.
Placements: Our college provides the best placements, and had the opportunity for students. It also provides great placements for IT and CS students in TCS and other companies. But the placements were on hold due to the pandemic, but placements were not good for Biotech.
Infrastructure: The laboratory for biotechnology was not good, but the computer laboratory was good. The classes had projector screens, but the computers work slowly. The library was best, and provides helpful staff. The ground for football and basketball were the best. Intercollegiate sports were held and gymkhana was quipped.
Faculty: Faculty members were the best in this college, and has the best research crowd. The exams were conducted by this college itself due to its autonomous accreditation. The teaching quality was the best. The curriculum for biotech keeps on updating to new subjects due to the goodwill of teachers.
Other: All the money goes for the fests, events, and celebrity guest rather than for the upgrade of the study material.

Good infrastructure, but faculty needs improvement.
Placements: I passed out during the Covid 19 lockdown, which didn't allow us to sit for offline placements. Around 40% of my batch mates were placed. The average package was around 2 LPA. Cipla and KEM were the top recruiters. Around 20% of the students got unpaid internships.
Infrastructure: The college has the best infrastructure. Classrooms are always clean, and very spacious. The library is huge with ample space to sit and study, with Wi-Fi and air conditioning. The biotechnology department has 3 labs with all the necessary equipment and chemicals. Canteen food is tasty but expensive. Sports ground and gym are available.
Faculty: Few teachers including the Hod are very knowledgeable and amiable. But the lab faculty and a few new teachers don't seem to be quite qualified. There are very less job opportunities after B.Sc. biotechnology. Semester exams are difficult and checking is strict. 75% of students pass and the rest have to appear for ATKT.

Absolutely satisfied by the faculty, teachers. Really great infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: Around 60% students get placed by college every year, there are many other options too. College provides with some internship ideas, startups we have many courses related to it. It feels so good to study in such a institute where we can get ample of knowledge.
Infrastructure: Library has everything that a student needs, varieties of books are present. Classrooms are the best with out any discomfort. Canteen is the best you will get everything you need starting from tea, coffee to shawarma shakes everything this is the best part.
Faculty: Teachers are so helpful we can contact them anytime and they will clear out doubt without any issue. Every exam is best you will know where you stand. Teachers knowledge are beyond stars they can literally answer every question and lab practicals are always insane.
Other: I choose Biotechnology, the best part is there are many fest and events conduct by the biotech representatives and every event is based on knowledge, how much we know about our syllabus.

We have amazing infrastructure, good faculty, but disappointed due to placement.
Placements: This college does not have significant placements for biotechnology students. The teachers here try their best to place you in some marketing jobs, which may not be related to the stream. Ideally, we need placements for pharma, food, cosmetic industries or in any research firm.
Infrastructure: The campus is impressive with multiple wings and is having seven floors. We have facilities like multiple canteens, washrooms, libraries. We have a lawn area and ground for various other activities. The students have the facility of elevators also, and most importantly, it is well maintained. They do charge some amount of infrastructure fees.
Faculty: The faculty is knowledgeable, understanding and supportive and they PhD qualified teachers. The syllabus is completed without any hassle and notes are provided by the respective teachers. We follow three days practical sessions and three-day lectures and both of which are conducted and examination is held for the same.
Other: We also have the fantastic annual fest "Algeria" along with cultural fests. There are individual fests for all the departments. Various sports activities are also held, and we also have gym facility also.
