Q:   Is School of Studies in Library & Information Science Tier 1 or Tier 2?

A:

The School of Studies in Library & Information Science is normally placed as Tier 2 in the hierarchy of Indian higher education. Not only does it offer quality programs, but at the same time, similar Tier 2 institutions are well-reputed within the community of library and information science. Normally, they do not compete with the topmost-ranked Tier 1 institutions on issues related to recognition, research output, or funding. Usually, they are affiliated with top-ranked universities within a country. Usually, Tier 1 schools are more resourced, have a much better faculty-student ratio, and have bigger industry contacts. If one wants rankings or classifications of specific needs, perhaps one should ask for other education rankings or surveys of quality institutions themselves.
