The placement in my college is not that good for the previous batches, and I think that the reason behind that no good companies came to hire the students.

B.A. (Hons.) in Political Science - Batch of 2027

Absolutely dissatisfied because of the surroundings of the college and the crowd of the college itse
Placements: This is my 1st year of college, completed my first semester, and on this basis, I can say that the strength or we can say the number of students in my own course, B.A. Hons Political Science is good, like 50, but attendance is very low. Recruitment chances are very low.
Infrastructure: A hostel facility is not present in my college, labs, and a library are there. The classrooms are in good condition. The canteen is there but has normal to below-average food items. The sports and game facilities are very good. In SLC, you can easily find opportunities for sports.
Faculty: Teachers are very well-educated, qualified, and knowledgeable. They teach us very well, of course, because it's Delhi University. This course is the most preferred course as you can join politics, and make a future in UPSC because Political Science is very necessary for UPSC and it may provide you with a great base. The passing percentage is 40, and it is easy to moderate to pass the exams because cheating is not allowed.
Other: I chose this course for my UPSC prep, and this course will definitely help me achieve my goals because it will make my foundation stronger. Some of us need private jobs, but in this course, there is a lack of companies that recruit B.A. Hons Political Science students. Events and fests are there, campus crowd is average, not so much for girls especially, but yes, you can consider it. The surroundings are very bad, and people in the surroundings may steal your phones and all. Extracurricular activities are there, theatre, dance, debate, and many other societies are there.

This college has good infrastructure as they are taking care of the facilities.
Placements: In our college, there are many students who score 98/99%, and some are failed also, but on average, a student can get a minimum of 50% and a maximum of 80%. Many companies recruit from our college, such as Tata, Reliance, Birla, etc. Around 40% of the students got an internship from our course. The top roles offered in our course were Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary, etc.
Infrastructure: There are many Wi-Fi networks that can be used by students. The computer lab is amazing, and the library in the morning is nice, but in the evening, it is poor; some books are not available in the evening. I got amazing food and sanitation in my hostel. I would say that my hostel has very healthy and delicious meals, and if they cannot provide, they allow us to eat anywhere we want, and they pay the bill.
Faculty: Teachers are very knowledgeable, and they help us a lot, except for some. Yes, this course is very important. Semester exams are really hard; you have to get at least 60%. Many students don’t even know the date sheet of the exams because of the absence of a notice board. I think there is an absence of a notice board. Students have to check various notices about the college and the exams.
Other: I want to become a businessman, and this course provides all the information about business.

B.A. (Hons.) in Economics - Batch of 2026
2.6
2Placements3Infrastructure4Faculty1Crowd & Campus Life3Value for Money
Dissatisfied by the college, its faculty, societies and crowd.
Placements: Around 30-40% of students were placed in my course this year. The highest package went for 4-5 lacs p.a., and the lowest was around 1.5 lacs. The average was 2-3 lacs. Top recruiting companies were IBM, Astral, and many more. Around 25% of students got internships in companies like Juspay, etc. The top roles offered are data analyst and economist.
Infrastructure: Facilities available in Shyamlal include a small ground and a large group consisting of NCC camps. There is a small amphitheatre and an average canteen in the college, average and conditioned libraries, and labs. Classrooms are average too in both the new building and the old. There is no hostel available, but there are many PGs available beside the college.
Faculty: Some teachers are helpful and knowledgeable, but not all, and their teaching quality is above average. This course curriculum is much relevant and makes the students industry-ready. Semester exams are much tougher in the college as all DU colleges have the same question paper from the University; you need to pass 40% of your subjects.
Other: I chose this course because this is not an average course, and I needed a valuable undergraduate degree. The best thing about this course is that it makes you mathematically strong. I wish this course didn't have so much mathematics and more about economics. The campus surroundings are below average, and the crowd in the college consists of 50% illiterate students. Events in the college happen to be good, but there is not much importance given to societies in the college.

I thought I took the wrong decision by taking admission here, but now I feel it is actually good!
Placements: Around 10-20 percent of students get placement. The highest package is around 11 Lacs, the lowest is 3 Lacs, and the average is 4-5 Lacs. The top recruits of our course are HCL, Tata, Mahindra, etc. Around 25% of students get internships in the above companies. The roles offered are cashier, analyst, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is decent; it contains all like Wi-Fi, labs, well-ventilated classrooms, a library, etc. But the library is not 24x7. A hostel is not available. For accommodation, you need to rely on PGs and private hostels provided by some private organizations.
Faculty: We have good teachers and a pretty good curriculum. This course is very relevant to today's world, and it's in demand. The exam conducted is difficult, and the passing percentage varies from 70-85%. The exams are tough, but if you pay attention to your course, then it will be much easier for you to crack it.
Other: I chose this course because it was pretty relevant to today's financial market, and it is in demand. But if the course gets a new update, then it will be much better. Our college has pretty good events and fests, not like those big ones, but decent.

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) - Batch of 2027
2.2
1Placements2Infrastructure3Faculty3Crowd & Campus Life2Value for Money
Absolutely dissatisfied with college faculty and location.
Placements: I am still studying, and my graduation will be completed in 2027, but I know for a fact that my seniors didn't get placed by the college. Not many companies come to this college for placement because of the college's reputation. The college doesn't provide internships; students have to use their own efforts.
Infrastructure: As a student of B.A. Programme (Political Science + Computer Application), not many facilities are available, but their functionality is in question because Wi-Fi is as slow as it can get. There are three computer labs, but only one is functional, and computers in it are also quite slow. There is no hostel. There is a cafeteria, though, but prices are high; it should cost less. Sports facilities are not up to par, like in football, we do not get a proper ground, no proper equipment, and there is no gym for players as well.
Faculty: Only a few teachers are helpful and friendly; the rest of the teachers are not much. Teaching quality is good for Political Science, Economics, History, and English. Examination difficulties are medium, depending on the subject you have opted for, and you have to pass in more than 7 subjects out of 14 in a year to pass and not get a year back.
Other: This course was my 3rd option. I was trying for JNU and BHU, not DU, but my bad was that I didn't make the cut-off. It was the last option, so I had to choose it. The course which I chose is also good; it will help in preparing for government exams and landing a job in the IT sector if skills are good. There is nothing to improve if the teacher is good, but one thing, if I can improve, is I will add a more practical way of teaching, more like visiting sites and companies, inspiring students to get more insights, and also removing language papers to optional and not in general electives area. There are organizations of events and fests by college societies, and scholarships are provided to EWS students and PWD students.

Shyam Lal College (University of Delhi) is a very good and best college in Delhi University.
Placements: Around 15% students were placed. The highest package is 8 Lacs. The average package is 4 Lacs to 5 Lacs. The lowest package is 2 Lacs to 3 Lacs. Top recruiters: Bajaj Finance, LIC, IndusInd Bank. Only 25% students got internships till now. Roles offered in B.Com are accounting, finance, taxation, and stock market.
Infrastructure: There is no facility of Wi-Fi for students, and classroom infrastructure is very damaged. There is no hostel facility at Shyam Lal College, Delhi. The canteen feels like homemade food. Sports and games mainly focus on hockey, kabaddi, and volleyball.
Faculty: Teachers were not helpful to students, but they are good qualified teachers. Teachers are also knowledgeable in everything. But the teacher quality is not up to the mark with students. Yes, the course curriculum is relevant as per my expectation. No, B.Com didn’t prepare students for the industry. The pass percentage is 50%.
Other: I want to do a professional course after B.Com, so that is why I opted for it. Infrastructure facilities and extracurricular activities should be improved.
