Q:   How effective is the placement cell for B.Sc. courses at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College?

    A:
    {Source: B.Sc. students & alumni}

Effectiveness of the Placement Cell for B.Sc. Courses at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College

The placement cell at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College is ineffective in facilitating placements for B.Sc. students. Despite having a placement cell, the college does not organize any placement drives, and it has failed to invite companies to the college for placements.

    * According to students, the placement cell only conducts seminars on interview tips, leaving students to apply for jobs outside the college.
    * Students are advised to focus on developing their skills and preparing for walk-in interviews rather than relying on the college's placement efforts.
    * There is no provision for internships within the college, and students need to search for opportunities independently.

Overall, the placement cell at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College appears to be underutilized and ineffective in supporting B.Sc. students in securing employment after graduation.

The lowest salary offered is Rs. 12,000 per month. Intel, Microsoft, etc., visit our college. Almost 40% of students got internships. Top roles offered are web designing teacher, etc.
Infrastructure: Our college provides good facilities. We have air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned hostels. Wi-Fi is good. Our college has good labs and classrooms. The food served in the mess is good. Our canteen is good. Medical facilities are available in our college. Our college has a lawn.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is good. This course curriculum is relevant. It makes students industry-ready. It is a bit difficult to pass semester exams. The pass percentage is 40%.
Other: I want to become a maths teacher, so I chose this course. The exam pattern should be improved. Events, the campus crow, and connectivity are good.

Dissatisfied because of the faculty .
Placements: There are a lot of students in our course but we have not gotten any internship yet from any companies, so there was also no talk about the packages given by the company. I also cannot say anything about top roles offered in our course.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is good but I cannot say that it is very good. The benches are not comfortable for sitting ,also the smart class is there but we have not seen it yet. The Wi-Fi facility is very good and the canteen is good for nothing.
Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified and knowledgeable and teaching quality is also good. Some of them have PhD level degree. The course makes the student ready for the industry but it also depends on the study of the students which they grab from the teachers. If they learn from them then definitely they will get the job.

Our college has affordable fee structure.
Placements: More than 40% of students got placed in top companies. The salary packages are also good. Top recruiting companies are HCL, etc. Internships are also offered in our college.
Infrastructure: Our college location is great, and has 15 acres of land. Wi-Fi is available. Laboratories like physics, chemistry, botany, computer, etc., are well-maintained. It also has well-maintained apparatus. Smart classrooms are well-ventilated. The library is also available, and around 1,000 books are available. The food served in the mess is good. Doctor's clinic is also available for medical emergencies. Indoor and outdoor games are available.
Faculty: Faculty members are highly qualified and knowledgeable. Teachers are always ready to help students with their doubts. Our course curriculum is relevant, and it makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are difficult. I would rate it 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Other: Cultural and heritage preservation, NCC, NSS, and Eco Scouts Group are conducted. Our campus is very friendly.

It has really good infrastructure and facilities, and the teachers are very helpful.
Placements: The training and placement cell guides and helps the final year students secure jobs with their knowledge and achievements by organizing campus interviews and exploring various avenues for their placements. The cell extends all possible help and provides all the facilities to organizations and their respective officials conducting campus interviews on the college campus.
Infrastructure: There are specific labs for each course with all the equipment. There s a huge library, and maximum books related to our courses are available. We can issue books to our home for study. In the hostel, the rooms are very clean and sanitized properly. The mess provides high quality food.
Faculty: The examinations and course completion is very up to date. But it requires little more interactive classes. Clinical exposure and ward visiting is not up to the mark. Professors and demonstrators are all good in colleges. Finally, The campus is very good to academics, to enjoyment purpose.
Other: It is very feasible. The fee is 12,000 per semester, and the hostel fee is 60,000 per year. Examination charges are 1,000 for university exams. Mess and canteen are also very reasonable. The environment over here is very good. Senior-junior interaction is good over here. There is no complaint of ragging too. Cultural programmes keep happening. A very good playground is there with 4 floodlights, so sports tournaments are conducted regularly. Campus life is good over here.

College having well educated teachers and good infrastructure having a well versed library.
Placements: Placements in our college were not good for B.Sc. students. There were very limited jobs offered to science graduates. The average salary offered was ranged between Rs 15000-20000 per month. The college doesn't organize any placement drives. However, there has been a placement cell in the college, and it has failed on the grounds of inviting companies to the college for placement, very few companies came for placement in the college .
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is quite good, there are specific block for steams like arts and science. There are two canteen in college and they can quite satisfy in terms of food quality and price. It has air-conditioned labs. Computer labs are Wi-Fi enabled. Hostel facilities are available for both boys and girls inside the campus. There is separate parking for two wheelers and four wheelers.
Faculty: The faculty are well educated and quite knowledgeable and are concerned about students. They are well qualified in their respective fields. Teaching quality is good, and students can easily communicate with the teachers and get their doubts solved easily, while exception are always there and they are here also.
Other: I always wanted to pursue my career in computer science and when I get the opportunity to enroll, I just took the offer letter for admission. I wish the syllabus has some more practical knowledge that will help the students more in their careers and for placement you are on your own.

It is a happy college life having helpful teachers, good placements for 2019, good infrastructure.
Placements: There is a proper placements cell where students have to go and show their interest in the placements afterward, teachers help students in getting placed and help them to prepare for the placements. Placements usually take place when they are in their last semester and usually companies prefer a wholesome of 75%. Previous year the top recruiting companies are ICICI Bank, Tech Mahindra, Birla Sunlife, HDFC Bank, Airtel, Samsung also participated in the job fest.
Infrastructure: There are a total of 5 computer laboratories and also 4 physics laboratories where students can easily perform all their practicals. The whole campus is connected with good speed Wi-Fi and in the library, students will find plenty of books related to the course or any other domain. The library has a sitting capacity of 150 students at a time with more than 5000 books. There are 4 dedicated blocks in the college for the science department, art department, commerce department, and one for students of pharmacy with well infrastructure classrooms. There are 2 canteens in college where students can easily fill their starve. Students will find a separate hostel for boys and girls. Currently, the boy's hostel has a capacity of 300 students, well connected with high-speed internet throughout the building the mess is good, and students will not miss their home. There is one separate medical room and it has the primary band-aid kit for any injury. There are 2 basketball courts, 1 volleyball court, and 1 lawn tennis court on the campus.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and knowledgeable. They are well qualified in their respective fields. Teaching quality is better, and students can easily communicate with the teacher and get their doubts solved. Semester exams are not that easy at least for our stream and also the syllabus is hard as students have to study physics, mathematics, and computer science, so it seems hard to score good marks. Only passing the semester exams is not that hard, and students can easily pass if they study throughout the semester. The overall passing percentage is less than 70% for our batch.
Other: I always wanted to pursue my career in computer science and when I get the opportunity to enroll, I just took the offer letter for admission. I wish the syllabus has some more practical knowledge that will help the students more in their careers.
