The faculty and infrastructure is great.
Placements: I haven't quite enquired about the placements since companies visiting for microbiology placement are quite a few. Amongst the batch of 20, we all had done internships in several institutes. Some of us did in BARC, NIRRH, IIT, NIO and other institutes.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is great. Labs are provided with required equipments and the library is one of the oldest having proper references. The food of the canteen is good and decent for the prices. College provides alot of extracurricular activities & encourages students to pursue them. College also conducts various lecture series and guest lectures for student benefit.
Faculty: Yes, the teachers are helpful and have a Ph.D. in the subject. The course is relevant and makes them more research-oriented. The teaching faculty is excellent and they make use of various teaching aids making it interesting for the students. Also, the teachers make sure that students have clear concepts. Teachers' evaluation by students is done to improve the method of teaching if any.
Other: I chose this course due to my interest in it. Microbiologists can work in food, pharmaceutical, brewery, winery industries. The most interesting thing about the subject is the awareness created about your daily life through it. One thing which can be improved is that students could get more exposure to the industrial sector of this subject.

    Review of St. Xavier's College.
Placements: There is a placement cell in our college. Many students get placed every year. I also applied for campus placements. Many companies visit the college to offer placements. Around 80-90% of the students were placed last year. All the students are placed well at high positions in good companies.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is very good and historical. The campus is huge and crowded. Labs are good, and safety precautions are also taken. Facilities like Wi-Fi, medical facilities and canteen are there in the college. There is a boys' hostel on the campus but no girls' hostel. Quality of food offered in the canteen is good.
Faculty: Teaching and non-teaching staff in our college are very helpful. Professors are well qualified, and their teaching quality is good. Lectures are conducted regularly, and it is mandatory for every student to maintain 75% attendance. Projectors and chalkboards are used for teaching. Teachers are always available to solve the doubts of students.

St. Xaviers- not just a college a way of life!
Placements: Internship is encouraged by the college to be done and there is a credit which is given in the marksheet on successful completion. However the student is required to find a place for internship on his own. The college has a placement cell to which a student is required to register by paying a fee depending on the students year. The placement cell has many seminars and contacts companies to visit the college. Companies like Tata Consultancy, CyberTech visit the college.
Infrastructure: The college was built 149 years ago so it gives that historic feel. Joispot Wi-Fi is available in the canteen. The college has huge labs for the Science stream which are well-equipped with modern facilities. Size of classrooms vary in size but most can easily fit 50-60 students with the biggest able to seat 130 students. There are two audiovisual rooms that can seat 120-150 people. The food in the canteen contains a Chinese counter, frankie and shawarma counter, chaat counter, drinks counter and local Indian preparations. The price range is reasonable for the quantity of food.
Faculty: Most of the professors are professionals in their field with most of them having a doctorate degree in their subject. Classrooms are equipped with projector facilities which are used very often by professors to teach. Chalk and talk is another method widely used. Fieldworks and industry visits are carried out to give students necessary exposure in their field. Curriculum is well spread with the first year consisting of basics of the subjects. There are many combinations of subjects offered under the arts and Science stream.
Other: There are many events and fear organised by each department. The main college fest- MALHAR occurs every August which has a workforce of more than 1000 students. The college encourages students to participate in sports day which has many track events. The nearest railway station in CST which is a 5 minute walk to the college. Marine Lines is close by which is a 10-15 minute walk. There are many bus stops around college.

It's not a college, but a way of life.
Placements: The placements from my batch have really been good. Most of the students from my senior batch are working. Few students have pursued higher education. Life science department provides a great opportunity for students to nurture skills to work in the various fields related to science.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is amazing. The classrooms are quite spacious. There is a 24*7 Wi-Fi facility. The college encourages the students in all plausible fields to promote a holistic development. There are two libraries, i.e. reference and lending library which provides all possible knowledge that one aims to gain.
Faculty: Most of the faculty hold a doctorate. This goes to suggest that they are highly skilled and knowledgeable. They teach us by developing an application based approach amongst all. Our batch has been acquainted with flipped classroom model. The curriculum is extremely helpful. It develops an exposure to various fields.
Other: Malhar festival is one of Asia's the biggest festival. The crowd is diverse, coming from various walks of life.

It is an amazing college. Good faculty, satisfied teaching and superb infrastructure are present.
Placements: No major companies are coming for placement, but you can get a job through the help of professors or else you can apply directly to the companies according to the vacancy. The college mainly focuses more on competitive exam rather than placement (I am talking about my course, but other courses have placements).
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is excellent. All the labs are there with all the needed equipment. There is a small auditorium, basketball ground, volleyball ground, gymnasium, badminton ground and table tennis room etc. are there. This college is most famous for shooting advertisements and films.
Faculty: There are many courses in all the streams (science, arts and commerce). They also have a junior college, and even they provide bachelor and master degree in several courses. Teachers and faculty are very good and helpful. You can learn practical knowledge and also this college is very good for extra-curricular activities.
Other: Malhar festival is among India's top 10 college fests. Other fests are also present like Janfest. No fest is conducted for each department.

I am absolutely happy and lucky to have gotten a chance to study in this institute.
Placements: There is a placement cell in the college. However, I was not a part of it. There are seminars organised for biological sciences wherein the representatives from various companies come and tell us about the kind of jobs available for us. They give their email id so as the interested candidates can contact them. Also, foreign universities do come to St. Xavier's College to select students for the PhD programme. Besides, the professors of the life science department keep us updated with the job openings/research institutes such as BARC, TIFR, NIRRH and companies like Cactus, etc. A few of my seniors currently work as scientific editors at Cactus. The pay is approximately Rs 15,000 per month with 6 working days a week.
Infrastructure: It is a heritage college. It is solar powered. The college provides free Wi-Fi to students, but the speed is low. The classrooms are big with the facility of a projector for presentations but the benches are dirty, and it becomes unbearably hot in summers as there are no ACs for B.Sc/M.Sc classrooms. The canteen food is quite reasonable with a lot of variety for vegetarians as well as non-vegetarians, but since all the B.Sc and M.Sc sections have a break together, it is very crowded. Anna's counter is the best to have a feel of homemade food. Pav bhaji, aloo puri, chole bhature, frankie, fried rice, chaat, pizza, pasta, sandwich and many more eating options are available. The Chinese food is a little too sweet for my liking. I love the masala paav, chicken frankie and chat. There is not enough place to sit and eat, and the tables are also dirty, and it becomes worse during monsoon. The labs provide us with all the chemicals and instruments that are needed but are cleaned only once a week. Also, the life science lab for M.Sc is too small and requires cleaning and fumigation from time to time as MScs handle microbial cultures. The space for carrying out dissertation projects is also very small, and it becomes a problem when the TYBSc people start with their projects because there is a shortage of requirements.
Faculty: The faculty are well qualified. Even at M.Sc. level, all our lectures and practicals were regularly conducted. The teachers are always ready to help. The lectures used to be interactive and just powerpoint presentations. We also had a flip classroom teaching method which was interesting and made us understand concepts better. The M.Sc. course included subjects like genetics, human physiology, biochemistry, biostatistics, entrepreneurship and scientific communication, evolution, pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals, forensics, etc. The curriculum was very useful. It would be nice if they could include neurobiology and developmental biology in their curriculum.
Other: It is a happy place. Malhar is the most awaited event along with the traditional day celebration. The campus is too good.

The online program has a primary objective to make quality forensic education easily accessible by: Facilitating distance learning for students interested in forensic science, living in different parts of India, with limited funds and/or access to good college-level forensic programs.
