SEED 2025 syllabus - Candidates appearing in SEED 2025 must consult the updated syllabus only.

The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) will conduct the written exam of SEED 2025 on January 12, 2025. The application form for SEED 2025 is currently OPEN.

The SID admission portal hosts the SEED 2025 syllabus that candidates can refer to for exam preparation. However, note that if SID changes the syllabus for the upcoming exam, the candidate has to incorporate it in the SEED exam preparation.

The SEED syllabus will include questions from the following topics - Visualisation, Observational, perceptual & reasoning abilities, Creative & problem-solving abilities, and Application of basic knowledge of Science & Mathematics.

Scores of the WRITTEN exam will be used to shortlist candidates for a Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI).

SEED Exam Syllabus 2025

SEED syllabus is such that this Design Aptitude Test would have questions on design-related topics. SEED exam evaluates aspirants on the basis of their aptitude in design. Aspirants can go through indicative topics from which questions might be asked in SEED.

SEED Syllabus: Visualisation

Understanding and visualization of simple and complex 2D & 3D geometric shapes, their manipulations, and spatial relationships through representations in pictorial and geometric forms.

SEED Syllabus: Observational, perceptual and reasoning abilities

Ability to read and see objects and information beyond obvious details, make connections, make comparisons, form opinions, and draw meanings & conclusions. Analyze your observations, express your point of view, and present in a systematic and structured manner.

SEED Syllabus: Creative and problem-solving abilities

Ability to visualize and relate images around us. Ability to identify a problem and attempt to provide solutions.

SEED Syllabus: Application of basic knowledge of Science and Mathematics

Observing the application of basic principles of science and mathematics taught up to standard 10th in the day-to-day activities & objects and finding interesting relevance.

SEED Syllabus: Art, craft, culture, design, and environment

General awareness of Art, Craft, Culture, Design, and Environment in India as well as in a global context. Various topics and sub-topics related to people, material, tools, techniques, issues & concerns, influences, period, and contemporary trends.

SEED Syllabus 2025: Portfolio Presentation

Candidates who qualify in the written exams will have to upload a portfolio as part of the Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI). The link to upload the portfolio will be activated on the SID admission portal soon after the SEED 2025 shortlist for the PRPI has been declared.

The eligible candidate will have to upload the portfolio as per the given format and specifications.

Note that the portfolio must be in digital format and must be a compilation of the students best works. It must showcase the skills, passion, interest of the candidate in a variety of areas and techiniques.

The works must be compiled in a Power Point Presentation of maximum 15 slides. The candidate has to convert this  a PDF of up to 5 Mb.

Try to include unique and interesting things in the portfolio.

The submitted portfolios will be reviewed by a panel of interviewers. 

The portfolio may contain the following items:

  • Sketches, mixed media illustrations and digital work
  • Collaging of images, 2D and 3D articles
  • Photography
  • 3D objects like sculpture, fabric products, gadgets, art inspired products etc

SEED Syllabus 2025: Personal Interaction

In this round, candidates who will be shortlisted on the basis of their portfolios will be called for final selection. Here, the panel will ask questions related to the programme they have opted for and also about the portfolios submitted by the candidate. The entire process will take place via online mode only. There is a possibility that an interviewer can ask the candidate to sketch or draw some topic for better assessment.

How to Prepare for SEED 2025

The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) will conduct the SEED 2025 written exams in a online proctored mode. Here is how you need to prepare for the exam.

  1. Go through the exam syllabus - The syllabus will contain the topics you need to cover for the exam. Check out the topics, also the important ones that will carry maximum weightage. You can divide the syllabus into easy, moderate, and difficult. This way you can allocate more time for the difficult topics.
  2. Align your preparation with the exam pattern - While the syllabus tells you what to study, the SEED 2025 exam pattern will tell you how to study for the given topics in the syllabus. For instance, the SEED exam will be conducted in an online-proctored, computer-based mode. Also, questions will be objective types. So, you need to prepared for that.
  3. Make a study time table - This study table will help you cover the syllabus within a spefic time and also help you devise proper exam strategies.
  4. Take notes - Taking notes during study will keep you engaged and focused. Also, this practice will help you jot down important points. In the last few weeks leading up to the exam, the note book can be a great resource for quick revision.
  5. Solve sample papers - Once you are in the middle stages of your preparation, you can start solving sample papers. In fact, the earlier the better.
  6. Take mock tests - Unlike sample papers, mocks are taken very close to the exam to give final touches to one's preparation and check one's exam readiness.
