The National Institite of Design (NID) has released the list of exam centres for the DAT Prelims exam on September 3, 2024.
The list of exam centers have been published in the respective admission brochures for the B.Des and M.Des programs.
The DAT Prelims exam will be conducted in 22 cities across the country - Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Kurukshetra, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Thiruvananthapuram, Vijayawada.
Note that each of these cities may have one or more exam centres.

Q: What is the reporting time at NID DAT 2025 exam centre?
The reporting time for NID DAT 2025 will be mentioned in the admit card, along with gate closing time, and exam timings and date.
The candidate needs to report for the DAT Prelims exam at 8 am. The gates of the exam center will close at 9,30 am (or 30 minutes before the commencement of the exam). After that no candidate will be allowed inside the exam hall.
The DAT Prelims exam for the B.Des and M.Des courses will be conducted tentatively in the 4th week of December 2024.

NID DAT 2025 exam centres: What is new?
The list of NID exam centers has been published in the NID DAT 2025 Admission Handbooks for the B.Des and M.Des programs.
For this edition of the DAT Prelims exam, no changes have been made to the list of exam centers.
As in the previous edition, the exam will continue to be held in 22 cities.
No new exam cities have been added to the list; also, no cities were dropped from the previous year's list.
Note that in the NID DAT 2024 exam, the following changes were made.
- Two exam cities - Goa and Shimla - were dropped.
- A new exam city, Kochi, was added.
- The number of exam cities was reduced to 22 (from 23).
Q: Will I be allowed to enter NID DAT 2025 exam centre if I am late?
The reporting and exam commencement time for NID DAT 2025 will be mentioned in the admit card. The candidate must arrive at the exam centre as per the reporting time.
If the candidate is late, there is chance that he or she will not be allowed entry inside the exam center.
So, the candidate must start a bit early on exam day, taking into account the traffic situation. Note that exam officials will conduct registration formalities and frisking, etc. befor allowing the candidate inside the exam centre.
Q: What is the reporting time for NID Studio Test?
The National Institute of Design will conduct the Studio Test for the B. Des program between April 26 and May 4, 2025. Meanwhile, the Studio Test and Interview for the M.Des will be held from March 3 to April 6, 2025. On the day of DAT Mains, the candidate needs to report at the exam centre on time.
For instance, the Studio Test for the M.Des programme commences at 9 am, but candidates need to get registered from 8 am onward. It is therefore mandatory to report on time. The candidate can consult the NID DAT 2025 admit card to check at what time they need to report for the Studio Test.

Will the exam centres be the same for DAT Prelims and DAT Mains?
The National Institute of Design releases exam centres separately for DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.
Details like the name and address of the allotted exam centre, reporting time, etc. will be mentioned on the admit cards (which also will be released separately for DAT Prelims and DAT Mains).
Will requests for a change in the NID DAT 2025 test centre be entertained?
Requests for change in the test centre will not be entertained.
However, exam authorities reserve the right to add or remove any test centre and allot an exam centre that may not be the aspirant's choice. Candidates need to note that a city may have more than one NID test centre.

Q: Will there be a baggage counter at NID DAT 2025 center?
The National Institute of Design (NID) may not make any arrangements for a baggage counter. So, the candidate must bear this in mind when packing for the DAT Prelims exam.
It is recommend that the candidate only packs the bare essentials, and don’t bring unnecessary stuff to the exam centre.
Also, expensive items like smartphones, jewellery, gadgets, etc. should be better left at home.
The other thing is to dress up in a comfortable attire.
While there is no official notice binding the candidate to dress up in a particular way, it is recommended to dress comfortably and sensibly. For instance, don't wear something too tight or too loose.
Exam Day Guidelines for NID Admission Test 2025
The test-takers will not be provided with any stationery and they need to carry the same with them when they appear for the NID exam. Mentioned below is a list of documents that aspirants need to carry with them when appearing for the NID Entrance Exam 2025.
Important Documents to carry on NID exam day?
Admit Card: Candidates need to download their NID admit card from the official website of the design entrance exam. Next, candidates need to take a clear printout of their valid NID DAT 2025 admit card to their allocated test center. Candidates will not be allowed to appear for NID exam if they are not carrying a valid admit card on the day of the exam.
Photo ID Proof: Along with the admit card, candidates need to carry a valid photo ID proof to their test center. Candidates need to carry any one photo ID from the below-mentioned list:
- Student ID card issued by current school/college
- Passport
- Driving License
- Aadhar Card
- Voters ID Card
- PAN Card
Stationery: Candidates need to carry their stationery for NID Entrance Exam 2025. Some materials that candidates need to carry to their NID test center are:
- Black ballpoint pen (to mark the answers in the OMR sheet)
- Lead pencils (of varying grades)
- Dry colors (such as oil pastels/color pencils/sketch pens etc)

What not to carry on NID exam day?
Candidates will not be allowed to carry mobile phones, calculator, or any other electronic device inside their NID exam hall. Any aspirant found to be carrying any such device will be asked to leave the test centre without completing his/ her exam.

The NID DAT exam is conducted is conducted in two stages. First, the candidate has to appear in DAT Prelims, and if shortlisted has to appear in DAT Mains.
The results of DAT Prelims for B.Des will be declared on April 1, 2025, while results for the M.Des programme will be declared on February 17, 2025.

The Studio Test for the B. Des programme will be conducted from April 26 to May 4, 2025. The candidate will be given the option to select a test city before that. Candidates who have qualified DAT Prelims are eligible to appear in DAT Mains. NID DAT 2025 Admit Card for DAT Mains
The National Institute of Design will conduct the B.Des Studio Test tentatively in the last week of April 2025. NID DAT Mains Admit Card 2025 will be released around the 3rd week of April 2025.
The B.Des DAT Mains Studio Test 2025 will be conducted in the following FIVE cities - Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Kolkota, and Kurukshetra.
The candidate had to SELECT their choice of test centers within the given deadline. Test centers will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. So, if you want to appear from a center of your choice, you have to book your preferred test center at the earliest.
M.Des DAT Mains exam will be conducted at the following THREE campuses - NID Ahmedabad, NID Gandhinagar, and NID Bengaluru.

NID DAT 2025 entrance exam is a two-step process.
The candidate first has to appear in DAT Prelims. The scores of the DAT Prelims are used to shortlist candidates for the next step - DAT Mains.

No, unfilled seats in SC/ ST category will not be de-reserved. Meaning, such seats will not be transferred to the open category. The same applies to GEN-EWS category seats.
So, even if there are vacant seats left in SC, ST, and GEN-EWS category, such seats will lapse.

Yes, if there are unfilled seats in OBC-NCL, such seats will be de-reserved. Meaning, such seats will be transferred to the open category. Allotment of de-served seats will be same as open category.

As per information given in the NID admission handbooks, overseas candidates cannot apply for admission to GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, and ST seats. Such candidates can't also apply for age-relaxation, scribe, etc.
