Important: Now, Manipal University does not conducting MDAT to offer admission to aspirants in BDes Fashion Design programme.

There is no set syllabus for MDAT exam. However, after going through previous years’ exam papers as well as mock tests shared by Manipal University, we have compiled MDAT syllabus along with topics aspirants can prepare to perform well in Manipal University Design Aptitude Test.

Drawing/Design Ability: In this section of MDAT exam, pictorial and diagram related questions are asked to test a candidate’s understanding of 2D/3D shapes as well as their spatial relationships. Apart from that a candidate’s knowledge of practical/everyday things/shapes/instruments is also tested. Apart from the above, MDAT also evaluates candidates on the ability to pinpoint differences in visual properties as well as aesthetic outcomes.

General Knowledge: In this section general knowledge as well as current affairs awareness of candidates is tested. Aspirants need to be up-to-date with latest happenings in the country as well as the world and also keep themselves abreast with GK related questions.

Communication Ability: This section tests the language ability of candidates. Questions in this section are from topics such as synonyms, antonyms, correct spellings, singular, plural, idioms and phrases, one word substitutes, words with corresponding meanings, and the likes.

Reasoning Ability: Questions in this section evaluate an aspirant’s ability to identify a problem and thereafter apply reasoning to solve the core issue. Knowledge of concepts and practice of creative as well as lateral thinking would be useful.
