These are first-hand student accounts on how our young population is managing to keep their exam prep or college course work going from the confines of their homes. In case you want to share your lockdown study experience, write to us at publish@shiksha.com.

What is the major difference in the experience of attending an online class and a brick and mortar class? What do u find more enjoyable?

As far as the current situation is concerned, the online platform draws major attention on filling the gap between the students and the teacher. It also allows interaction with each other to make things easier for them. For better interaction, the comment section is provided where we can ask our doubts during the class. The class timing is also mentioned which eventually makes us punctual for the class. It is highly enjoyable to attend the class from the comfort of our homes.

Would you prefer to opt for online classes if given a choice? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each online and offline?

I would prefer the online class because of various advantages. One could learn at any place depending on their comfort zone. With the advancement of technology, it is possible to provide better connectivity of high-speed internet making the use of video conferencing easier. Thus, it is just like the brick and mortar class. As stated above, one could also clear their doubts using the comment section. Every student needs to be conscious and focussed during the online session. One might feel the disadvantage of an online class is the classroom environment. Also, interaction with friends and peers is missing through online lectures.

How are you making the most of all the extra leisure time that you have now?

Usually these days are high on laziness but even then, I am trying to be highly productive by following the daily schedule that I have formulated. Generally, I wake up and freshen up daily, then I go for a long walk in the woods and there I sit and relax and do some exercise. After this, I take a bath and have some breakfast. I also read the newspaper and novel. Also, after some time, I spend time in my garden and water the plants from time to time. One could also try to add more interesting things in their schedules as needed. At night, I try to study and prepare for the exams.

With exams being postponed, how are you keeping up with extended preparations?

Please provide new dates of exams if those have been shared in the college. The exams are postponed and the exam dates to be scheduled is between August and September.

If u are planning to prepare for any competitive exam-how are u making the most of this time? This time most of the students are preparing for the competitive exams and one could make use of online sources for the best utilisation of time. This time should be used productively by every student. The students could also prepare a schedule to complete their syllabus on time.

Are your parents more involved in your college life now since they can listen to/participate in your conversations more easily?

My parents are very much interested in my college life. They take a keen interest in many things. They often interact with professors and stay up-to-date with the information regarding my course.
