Coronavirus Outbreak: IIT Bombay to conduct PhD examinations via Video Conferencing
As a precautionary measure against COVID-19/Coronavirus, the Institute has also asked the residents of the campus to avoid international travel and non-essential domestic travel till mid-April.
The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-Bombay) will preferably be conducting PhD examination through video conferencing till April 15. According to an advisory issued to students and staff by the institute, the premier engineering institute will be conducting the examinations for PhD students via Video Conferencing. As a precautionary measure against COVID-19/Coronavirus, the Institute has also asked the residents of the campus to avoid international travel and non-essential domestic travel till mid-April.
In the first official advisory issued by the IIT Bombay to its students and staff members (both teaching and non-teaching), the institute advised everyone to avoid inviting external guests to the campus. It also suggested avoiding unnecessary gatherings and events on the campus. Stressing upon the emergency situation created due to the spread of Coronavirus all across the world, one of the best engineering institutes, IIT Bombay strongly advised its staff members to postpone or cancel conferences, seminars, workshops, competitions, events, etc. along with all the other activities where external participations is involved.
The institute had sent an email to all the students informing and elaborating on the COVID-19 positive cases in Maharashtra. It also urged the residents of IIT Bombay to maintain calm and urged to follow the advisory to take collective measures against the disease and remain safe. According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, so far, a total of 110 cases of coronavirus, including 17 foreign nationals, have been confirmed across India. The maximum positive cases i.e. 32 have been reported from Maharashtra, followed by Kerala i.e. 22.
