From JEE Struggles to UIET: A Journey of Resilience

My Unexpected Journey into JEE Prep

Unlike every Indian parent, my father asked me to go for Commerce. Since, I had no interest in Commerce, I chose Non-Medical. I never liked Mathematics, but, this was my only option. Within 2 months of schooling, I started preparing for JEE MAIN. Honestly, I had never heard of the exam before.

Backlogs, Stress, and Hope: The Road to D-Day

I joined an online coaching program and started with my classes. I had to attend school for 6 hours and then have 6 hours of online classes daily. After all these, I had to do self-study and DPPs for 3-4 hours. I used to have a maximum of 4-5 hours of sleep. Because of this schedule, I got many backlogs in Class 11. I started fresh in Class 12, leaving everything back, with all the stress, school drama, low scores, high hopes, bad health, etc. And, with all this going on, the D-Day came.

From Failed Attempts to JAC Chandigarh: My Journey Beyond JEE

My first JEE Mains attempt mixed with board practicals did not go that well. I scored a 96.4 percentile, which was not good, obviously. Then, I took my board exams. I scored 98% marks in Class 12 board exams. After the board exams, I went for my second attempt. I went to the center and started my exam. Then came the twist—MY FINGERPRINT COULDN’T MATCH! Basically, they scan your fingerprint twice. My second one didn’t match the first, and the invigilator said my exam would not be submitted without this. I had tears in my eyes with my 2-year struggle in my head. After so many failed attempts, and with the destruction of my mental health, the fingerprint match was made when 20 minutes were left for the exam. Trust me, at that moment, I was doing 2+2=5. With whatever strength I had left in myself, I finished the exam and left the hall. I scored a 96.57 percentile and secured a rank of 53180. Leaving everything behind, I started preparing for the JEE Advanced exam. A day before my 18th birthday, I gave the paper and got my mind free from the JEE. I couldn't qualify for the exam. So, the only question that I had at that time was, "WHAT TO DO NOW?"

Q:   How much time is required to prepare for JEE Mains?

A:

The time required to prepare for JEE Mains depends on several factors, such as your current knowledge level, the amount of time you can dedicate to studying, and your desired level of excellence. However, here are some general guidelines:

  1. Ideally, you should start preparing for JEE Mains at least 6-8 months before the exam date. This will give you ample time to cover the entire syllabus, practice mock tests, and analyse your performance.
  2. If you have already started preparing, it's essential to make a time table and stick to it. Allocate at least 6-8 hours daily for studying, and ensure that you take regular breaks to avoid burnout.
  3. It's important to note that the amount of time required to prepare for JEE Mains can vary depending on your current knowledge level. If you have a strong foundation in the subjects, you may require less time, whereas if you need to build your fundamentals, you may need more time.
  4. Additionally, it's important to remember that studying smartly is more crucial than studying for a long time. Focus on understanding the concepts, practicing challenging problems, and analyzing your performance regularly.

In conclusion, the amount of time required to prepare for JEE Mains can vary depending on several factors. However, ideally, you should start preparing at least 6-8 months before the exam date, and make a study plan that suits your needs and schedule. Remember to study smartly, practice regularly, and analyze your performance to achieve your desired score.

Q:   How to crack JEE Mains in first attempt?

A:

Hi aspirant!

Clearing the JEE Main exam in first attempt is not a difficult task. If we see the year over year statistics, the ratio of students who clear JEE Main in first attempt is high in comparison to students who dropped a year after class 12. One thing that makes it easy to clear JEE Main with class 12 is that students are in regular touch of most JEE syllabus. To score good marks in JEE Main in the first attempt, it is advised that you study class 11 and 12 topics thoroughly, clear all the concepts and solve mock test papers. Also, NCERT books which you study in class 11 and 12 are the best books for JEE Main preparation. Students must study NCERT properly and solve all the questions in the book and do not memorize the concepts as some students do rather understand the concepts.

Hope this cleared your doubt. Best wishes!

Q:   Can I prepare for JEE Mains in 4 months?

A:

To get a good rank in JEE and make to the IIT, you need to have a strategic planning that suits the present format of selection. The present format demands an all-round performance as it considers your Board Examination, JEE Mains and Advanced. Here are certain points that would help you.

  • Understand the JEE Mains syllabus and start reading the NCERT books thoroughly. The NCERT books are written by some of the best brains of India and these books are quite precise and concise. Your preparation must start with NCERT books. Read these books thoroughly and solve all the back exercises. Also try the example problems for further practice of objective questions. Remember that reading and understanding the NCERT books are not the same thing.
  • Solve previous year JEE Main question papers to understand your preparation level. It will also help in understanding the difficulty level of the exam and chapterwise weightage of various topics.
  • Solve JEE Main mock tests regularly to enhance time management and problem solving skills

I did not want to take a drop, and my rank did not help me get a good branch in top colleges. So, I applied to JAC CHANDIGARH for University Institute of Engineering and Technology(UIET) and JAC DELHI for Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW). I also applied to UPTAC, believing I had a strong chance . I thought I would get ECE at JAC Delhi, but, I got rejected. I didn't apply for JOSSA as I had no hopes of getting a good branch. Instead, I went for JAC CHANDIGARH. I got into this college through counseling.

I chose this college because I had heard a lot about the university. This college had decent placements and stuff.

New Friends, Greenery, and Fun: My College Life Journey

I made a friend in the college even before the classes began. The first time I visited the college for physical verification, I was so happy to see so much greenery in the college. I have a lot of fun with my friends during the lectures, in the canteen, and in the library as well. Breaks between lectures are the best time to have fun with each other. There are a lot of extracurricular activities such as sports club, literary club, etc.. I am also a part of some of them. The teachers are very supportive, knowledgeable, and motivating as well. Overall, the college is very good.

Q:   How many months are required to prepare for JEE Mains exam?

A:
The time period required to complete the JEE Main preparation depends mainly on the students. Every student has their own pace of study. Ideally, 6-month time is good enough to complete the JEE Main preparation. Students who have started preparing from class 11 or 12 can easily prepare for JEE Main. In 6 months considering the topics of JEE syllabus have already been studied in classes 11 and 12. JEE Main preparation is most effective with classes 11 and 12 as almost 90-95 percent of topics are similar in both exams. This way students can easily complete the entire JEE Main. Syllabus as well as the syllabus of classes 11 and 12. After the board exams, students get 2-3 months' time where they can focus entirely on JEE Main. Students who have started late for the JEE Main exam can make a 6-month plan where in the first three months they have to focus on revising the syllabus studied in classes 11 and 12. In the next two months focus on solving questions of JEE Main and analyzing the mistakes being made, if any. The last month should be focused on solving mock tests and JEE Main previous year question papers.

Q:   Is one month sufficient for JEE Main preparation?

A:
One month is not sufficient for JEE Main preparation if a student has not started preparing or have not studied earlier for the exam. As the syllabus of JEE Main is vast, studying all the topics and remembering them take a lot of effort. However, class 12 student can get a decent score in JEE Main if time after the bard exam is devoted exclusively for the JEE preparation. Since most topics of JEE Main and class 12 are similar, students need to revise all the topics and solve previous year JEE Main question papers. Start solving JEE Main mock test papers at last 3-4 days before the exam to make yourself comfortable with the exam.

Q:   How to prepare for JEE Main from Class 11th and 12th?

A:
Starting the JEE Main preparation from class 11 or 12 is the best time. As JEE Main syllabus consists of topics from class 11 and 12, students can easily cover all the topics along with school. Students can begin by checking the topics that is covered in both school and JEE Main and give special attention to them. For all three subjects, study NCERT and also take help from reference books. Understand the concepts thoroughly and solve numerical problems. To crack JEE Main along with class 12, students should devote at least 2-3 hours for JEE beside class 12 studies. Regularly solve JEE Main mock test and solve previous year question papers to evaluate the performance.

Q:   How to score good marks in JEE Mains?

A:
To score good marks in JEE Mains, study NCERT books thoroughly. NCERT books are the best to understand the basic concepts. In JEE Main exam, questions are asked that test students' conceptual and analytical understanding. So, students should build their conceptual knowledge and solve numerical problems on every topic. Another essential piece of advice is to solve the previous year's paper to gain insight into the exam's difficulty level and how questions are asked.

Q:   Which are the most scoring and easy chapters from chemistry for JEE Mains?

A:
Hi JEE Main Chemistry Important Topics (with 2-3 Questions each) Atomic Structure. Gaseous State. Hydrocarbons. Aldehydes and Ketones. D & f Block Elements. General Organic Chemistry.
