IIT Kharagpur, West Bengal ranked second among India’s higher educational institutes in the 'Times Higher Education Emerging Economies Ranking 2020'.

One of India’s premier institutes, the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT KGP) made it to 32nd rank in the overall global ranking. Rank as 55th last year, IIT-KGP took a jump and reached 32nd this year. The institute that is ranked first among India’s higher educational institutes in the 'Times Higher Education Emerging Economies Ranking 2020' is the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). The institute is ranked as 16th globally in the ranking list.

Talking about the rise in the ranking list, IIT KGP Director Professor V K Tewari said that the institute ensures best-in-class quality and has taken quality measures to improve and maintain a globally competitive faculty-student ratio.

56 Indian universities made it to the ranking list where 533 universities from different countries got ranked. A total of eleven Indian institutes got featured in the top-100 list.

Times Higher Education released the Emerging Economies Ranking 2020 by comparing the universities on the basis of various parameters, a few among them are full-time enrolled students, the number of students per staff, the total number of international students enrolled, the gender ratio in the university, and others.
