Whatever I learn, I try to apply that in life: Meet Akbari
I got 92% in 10th standard. My family and society were forcing me to go for medical stream because I got a very good rank in my school and they wanted to see me as a doctor who would earn more than an engineer. But I wanted to do engineering because that was my area of interest. So I chose A group in Science stream to fulfill my dreams as an engineer.
Again I cracked 12th with good marks from GSEB and doors were opened for me to enter well-known universities in Gujarat. I wanted to go for a combination of IT and electrical fields, hence I started to search for that kind of courses offered by well-ranked universities in Gujarat. Eventually, I found a course named “Information and Communication Technology” shortly called ‘ICT’. Around 7 to 8 colleges were offering this course but there were two topmost colleges in Gujarat-
1. DAIICT
2. School of Engineering and Applied Science, Ahmedabad University
I decided to go with Ahmedabad University rather than DAIICT because AU offers “Project-Based Learning” which was a unique and very new concept for me as an engineer to learn practical things. I chose School of Engineering and Applied Science, Ahmedabad University for pursuing the course.
To get admission in any of the colleges in Gujarat, a student has to give GUJCET which carries 40% weightage. 12th Board carries 60% weightage and on the basis of this, an ACPC Rank is declared. A student can also take admission through his/her JEE rank. I gave GUJCET and JEE Main to get admission in a good college. I cracked GSEB+GUJCET with 201 ACPC rank out of 35000+ candidates from Gujarat and that was the biggest achievement for me.
I didn’t join any coaching classes for preparation of my GSEB + GUJCET exams. I used to go to school regularly and prepared myself for exams every day. I learned new topics every day by reading textbooks and solving problems from reference books.
I like to go to college every single day no matter what other college students think about me. I used to spend my time in college between 9 to 6 every day. Whatever I learn, I practice, try and then apply it in life.
My vision is to solve real-life problems using programming and electronics(mainly focused on hardware). In Ahmedabad University, lots of workshops related to Machine Learning, Internet Of Things, Deep Learning, Leadership Development, Software Development, SolidWorks, and many other chemical and mechanical events are organized every year. I attend most of the workshops and lectures which are a part of programming and electronics and more about ML, IOT and software development. In Ahmedabad University, there are 20+ clubs associated with extra-curricular activities which are really helpful for all the students who want to showcase their non-cognitive skills and prepare yourself for this competitive market.
I want to start a new club at Ahmedabad University which would be called ‘Spiritual Club’. My main goal is to explain what is spirituality and what is the importance of it in your life and I want students and their parents to join this club and do meditation in order to release their stress.
After completing my first year, I realized that I have chosen the best university for me to achieve my dreams what I have seen before. Only one year of engineering taught me that an engineer can handle any tough situation, no matter what it is.
