How I chose my college and course: Sakshi Yadav
The most important and crucial decision for a student of class 10th is to choose a stream in which they want to build their career. This phase is very confusing, as you have to decide whether to go with Maths or Bio or Commerce, or anything else. Well, I opted for Mathematics because I always wanted to become an engineer. The journey of 11th and 12th was quite difficult for me because of Physics. After 12th it was time for me to choose a good college for engineering. Selecting a good college is very important because it develops a path for our future. For selecting a good college, one can also go through many websites for comparing colleges and getting reviews of students who are actually studying there.
I live in Chhattisgarh and, here, Shri Shankracharya Engineering College is very famous and one of the best colleges of the state. Just after 12th exams, I started preparing for PET, which is an entrance exam for engineering colleges. I scored good marks in CG PET, which was, fortunately, enough for taking admission in the college I wanted. For cracking the entrance exam, I’d suggest the students to join coaching classes because they provide a number of topics with a lot of tricks to solve them very quickly, which is very important in fighting competitive exams. After the result of PET, I got a particular time period for confirming my admission in the college I choose. I went to the college campus and took admission by completing all the procedures of document submission and verification.
After getting admission at SSEC, I searched for a hostel and decided to live there. In the initial stage, I was very nervous about the roommates, classes, and lots of things because it was a very new experience for me.
I chose Computer Science Engineering (CSE) branch because now a days, everything is being digitalised, so there is a lot of scope in this field. At SSEC, classes, faculty members and friends - all are very good. Especially, the faculty members who are very supportive and helpful.
Now, after completing four years of engineering, I can confidently say that my college life was awesome. There, I had many experiences related to education and professional aspects and also learnt a lot about life. The college also provides great placement opportunities top its students.
Making a choice of pursuing CSE from SSEC is no doubt a very good decision and I feel that I took the right decision for my career ahead. There are a lot of options available in the digital industry especially for a BTech graduate.
Preparing for government exams is very beneficial but I wanted my career in multi-national companies, so I started preparing for interviews and attended campus recruitment drives; eventually I was selected in a good company. I would suggest the students to choose the stream very wisely and if confused, they must take advice from seniors or some websites which are helpful in helping to take a right decision.
