Preparation and thorough revision are important to clear competitive exams like JEE Mains. Divide the complete syllabus first into modules then divide it further into weekly slots for effective preparation and revision.

Every student aims at getting admission into premium institutes for a bright and secure future. In this article, we are going to discuss some strategies which are purely based on my personal experience.

The most important things to keep in mind while preparing for an entrance exam are maintaining a routine, track performance to a good level along with consistent practice.

What does it take?

Analyse your skills and decide

  1. Know your level: Every aspirant needs to understand their level. Preparing for Mains or directly jumping on to Advanced and preparing for board exams as well. To manage everything, analyse and prepare as per the capabilities with complete focus to reach the goals.
  2. Time management:  The key to success is proper time management and undivided attention.

Preparing for Class 12 boards and entrance exams simultaneously:

This is not as difficult as it sounds as the syllabus in Class 12 board and JEE Main almost the same. To perform well in competitive exams, students should focus on covering all the subjects on board exams. Some tips are given below:

  1. Importance of board exams: Securing good marks in board exams is important as a student cannot appear in any competitive exam without clearing board exams with good marks.
  2. Boards are easy: Proper preparation and practice make any exam easy. Boards are no different. Hence, practice as much as possible to clear boards with high marks; this would make the preparation for entrance exam easier
  3. Use your time: Create a schedule for preparation and follow the same diligently. Proper time management is essential for preparing and covering all the topics for IIT JEE.
  4. Clear the basics: Understand the basic concepts and practice. Clarify the doubts while preparation; this would help in understanding the basic concepts of each subject.

Preparation for subjects (books/reference materials/coaching):

Basic tips to prepare for subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are as follows:

  1. Physics:  Prepare proper thorough handwritten notes for various theorems, topics, and their derivations as well. Numerical questions are important in Physics. Practice numerical questions; this would help in understanding the concepts. Students could refer to Pradeep Physics for derivation and other topic help.
  2. Mathematics: Along with NCERT, students could refer to RS Aggarwal or RD Sharma. Practice regularly and learn all formulae every day.
  3. Chemistry: Learn and understand all concepts of Organic and Inorganic Chemistry. For Chemistry, students could refer to NCERT books for boards and Mains.

Revision

Revision is important to secure good score and rank, enhance performance and can be your secret to success.

  1. Revise every topic covered on a daily basis.
  2. Revise the concepts, formulae, and theory after 1 hour. Also, revise the important concepts on a weekly basis.
