Three IIT students to attend Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in Germany

Two PhD students of the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) and one from IIT Bombay have been nominated this year to join the prestigious 70th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting to be organised in Lindau, Germany.

Two PhD students of the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) have been nominated this year to join the esteemed 70th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting to be organised from June 28 to July 3, 2020, in Lindau, Germany. Dependu Dolui and Srimadhavi Rai are among the 660 young researchers and scientists from 101 countries from across the globe. Both are from the Chemistry department at IITGN. They will get a chance to showcase their work at the meeting before approximately 70 Nobel laureates from varied branches. They would also get an opportunity to interact with them in a casual atmosphere.

Ms Ravi is operating in the domain of 'Drug discovery and medicinal chemistry towards making new age cancer therapeutics' under the mentorship of Prof Sivapriya Kirubakaran, Associate Professor, Chemistry, IITGN. Mr Dolui is pursuing his Ph.D. research on 'Designing bio-inspired molecular catalysts for energy-relevant small molecule activations' under the guidance of Dr Arnab Dutta, Assistant Professor, Chemistry, IITGN. 

IIT Bombay researcher nominated for Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting

An IIT Bombay PhD student has been nominated to join the Lindau Nobel Laureates Meeting 2020. Jayeeta Saha, a researcher at the Chemistry Department of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, will join the Meeting.

The Lindau Nobel Laureate meetings consist of several sessions such as lectures by the Nobel Laureates, panel/round-table discussions on interdisciplinary topics and casual small-group conferences with the Nobel Prize winners. The meeting is devoted to multi-disciplinary subjects viz., Chemistry, Medicine/Physiology and Physics. The visit will be completely sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. The student selection process is very arduous and competitive based on numerous important criteria such as achievements, experience, and research work, among a few others.
