GAT-B 2025: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the Graduate Aptitude Test Biotechnology (GAT B) 2025 and the Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET) 2025. What is GAT-B/BET?
GAT-B/BET was earlier known as JNU CEEB. The Graduate Aptitude Test-Biotechnology (GAT-B)/Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET) is a National Level Entrance Examination for admission to the Department of Biotechnology supported Post Graduate Programme in Biotechnology and allied areas in participating Institutions (GAT-B) and for the award of DBT – Junior Research Fellowship (DBT-JRF) for pursuing research in frontier areas of Biotechnology (BET).
Based on the Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET), two categories of merit list are prepared (Category-I and Category-II). Category I candidates can avail of the fellowship [JRF] at any recognized university/institution across India, where the candidate enrolls for Ph.D.Programme. Category II candidates can be appointed in any DBT-sponsored project with a fellowship equivalent to NET/GATE qualification as per current DST guidelines and/or enroll in a PhD programme.
The exam is conducted in order to offer admission to aspirants in Biotechnology programmes offered by the JNU as well as other participating colleges. Courses in which candidates can secure admission based on their ranks in the exam are:

GAT-B 2025 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates are advised to must go through GAT-B eligibility criteria before filling in the application form as those who do not satisfy the criteria will not be considered for admission. Given below are the eligibility criteria candidates can check:
- Candidates must be citizens of India.
- Candidates must have completed a Bachelor's degree program from a recognized university in either of the fields i.e., Biological, Physical, Veterinary and Fishery Sciences, Agriculture, Pharmacy, Engineering/Technology, 4-years BSc (Physician Assistance Course); or Medicine (MBBS) or BDS.
- Candidates must have scored 60 per cent aggregate in Bachelor's Degree (55 per cent for reserved category candidates). Candidates appearing for the qualifying examinations are eligible to apply.
- Candidates should be of 28 years of age as on last date of application. There is a relaxation of age limit up to five years for the reserved category candidates, i.e., 33 years and up to three years for women candidates, i.e., 31 years.
GAT B 2024 Result
National Testing Agency has released the GAT-B 2024 result online at the official website. Applicants appearing in the exam can check their GAT-B result 2024 at dbt.nta.ac.in. Candidates are required to enter their application number and date of birth/password to check GAT-B result. Applicants declared qualified based on the GAT-B 2024 results are eligible to participate in the counselling process. As per the previous year statistics, a total of 10493 candidates registered for GAT-B exam while 14234 applicants appeared for BET exam. Out of total registered candidates, 9116 appeared for GAT-exam and 11904 appeared for BET exam.
GAT B 2025 Application Form
NTA will tentatively release the official notification along with an information brochure in February 2025. NTA will release the GAT-B 2025 application form at the official website. Candidates can fill GAT-B application form 2025 online at dbt.nta.ac.in. All students must fill in every detail carefully to avoid any discrepancies. Candidates can follow the below steps to fill in the GAT-B 2025 application form.
Step-1: GAT-B Registration 2024: Candidates have to fill in the online GAT-B application form at the official website by entering their various details such as their names, date of birth, email ID, mobile number, etc. After the successful GAT-B registration, candidates will get the application/registration number.
Step-2: Filling details in the GAT-B application form: Candidates have to fill in their personal, educational and communicational details.
Step-3: Uploading documents: In the next step, applicants need to upload the required documents in the application form as per the specifications.
Step-4: Fee Payment: Candidates have to make payments online after logging in through the official website. Candidates will be able to make the payment via Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking.
General category and OBC candidates have to make a payment of INR 1,200 for the application form. Reserved category candidates got a concession in fee payment and had to pay INR 600 for the application form. Those applying for both GAT-B and BET 2025 exams have to pay INR 2,400 (Unreserved categories) and INR 1,200 (Reserved categories) respectively.
GAT B/ BET 2025 Exam Pattern
NTA will release the GAT-B 2025 exam pattern along with the official notification. Applicants appearing in the exam are advised to must refer to the GAT-B exam pattern for their preparations. The exam pattern of GAT-B 2025 comprises number of questions, marking scheme, duration and others. There will be two parts in the question paper.
GAT-B 2025 exam will have 2 sections namely: Section A and section B
Section A: This section will have 60 compulsory multiple choice questions of 1 mark each. There will be negative marking and for each incorrect response, 0.5 mark will be deducted from the total marks.
Section B: This section will have 100 multiple choice questions of 3 mark each. Candidates need to attempt only 60 questions out of the 100 questions. There will be a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer.
BET 2025 exam will have 2 sections namely: Section A and Section B
Section A: This section will have 50 compulsory multiple choice questions of 3 mark each. There will be negative marking and for each incorrect response, 1 mark will be deducted from the total marks.
Section B: This section will have 150 multiple choice questions of 3 mark each. Candidates need to attempt only 50 questions out of the 150 questions. There will be a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer.
GAT B/BET 2025 Syllabus
It is important for candidates to be fully aware of the GAT B and BET syllabus before filling out the GAT B application form. How to Check GAT-B Exam City Intimation 2025?
Candidates have to follow the steps given below to know the city in which their GAT-B 2025 exam centre is located, prior to the release of the admit card.
- Visit the official website.
- Login through the Application Number and Password/Date of Birth.
- Enter Security Pin.
- Click on the Sign-in tab.
- The exam city details will appear on the screen.
Candidates must check the examination center details to make travel accommodations prior to the exam.
GAT B 2025 Admit Card
National Testing Agency will release the GAT-B/BET admit card 2025 on the official website. Applicants appearing in the exam can download the GAT-B admit card through the application number and password/date of birth. Candidates appearing in the exam have to carry their GAT-B 2025 admit card along with one valid photo ID proof at the exam center. After downloading GAT-B admit card 2025, candidates are advised to check all the details mentioned in it. In case of any mistake in GAT-B admit card, applicants are advised to contact the exam authorities for corrections.
