HPPSC added two new vacancies of Block Development Officer (BDO) and increased the total number of vacancies in the HPAS 2021 Exam to 18. The Block Development Officer is a Class-I Gazetted officer under the Department of Rural Development of the state. The Commission will provide another opportunity to the candidates to re-fill their Service preference in the HPAS 2021 Application Form.
HPAS vacancies are always very few but it motivates the candidates to prepare well and get selected for the HPAS in the state. Himachal Pradesh is a small state and hence the number of vacancies in the HPPSC HPAS notification are always less than compared to other states. The number of services notified in the official Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission notification is also very less.
HPAS vacancies 2020 was notified in the official notification. This year, there are only 16 vacancies in all, including eight vacancies for the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service (HPAS). The candidates need to strive hard to get selected in the HPAS. HPAS 2020 notification was released on May 19, 2021.
HPAS Vacancies 2020
As following the trend, the number of vacancies for the HPAS is very less. The eight vacancies for HPAS are further divided among the categories and only four are available under the unreserved category. The general category candidate needs to rank within the top four ranks to get HPAS and if any other category candidate scores more marks and secures the rank within the top 4, he can claim the unreserved seat. So getting into HPAS, the candidate needs to be in the top three to five in the overall ranking.

HPAS Vacancies 2019
The HPAS vacancies notified in the last notification was 26. There too, the number of vacancies for the HPAS was 11 only.

HPPSC notifies the number of vacancies as per the requisition received from the various departments. Since Himachal Pradesh is a small state with few districts. This is one of the reasons that the number of vacancies is always few. The HPAS Prelims exam will be conducted once the COVID-19 situation stabilises in the state.
