SSC GD Recruitment 2025: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is carrying out the SSC GD Constable Recruitment 2025 drive to fill a total of 39,481 vacancies. The SSC GD notification 2025 was released on September 5, 2024, as a PDF file mentioning all the important details of the recruitment process such as exam dates, eligibility criteria, application process, exam pattern, syllabus, result process, selection criteria, cut-off details and others. On the other hand, the SSC GD 2024 recruitment is underway to fill a total of 46,617 vacancies for the posts of Constable General Duty (GD) in CAPFs and SSF and Rifleman General Duty (GD) in Assam Rifles

The SSC GD recruitment is carried out through three stages - Computer-Based Examination (CBE), Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/ Physical Standard Test (PST) and Detailed Medical Examination (DME). Each SSC GD selection stage is successive to the other. Candidates are required to clear all the stages of the exam to get into the final merit list. The final merit list is prepared based on the final SSC GD result and marks secured in all the stages. For final selection, the candidate must score equal to or above the SSC GD 2025 exam cutoff. The SSC Constable recruitment usually takes over one year to complete.

SSC GD recruitment is done in total eight forces. For the post of Constable (GD), the recruitment is done in Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Assam Rifles (AR), Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Secretariat Security Force (SSF). For the post of Rifleman (GD), recruitment is done in Assam Rifles and Sepoy is posted in the NCB.

SSC GD Recruitment Process 2025

The Constable (General Duty) is one of the most popular exams because of its eligibility criteria and difficulty level of the exam. SSC GD recruitment process will be conducted as follows:

SSC GD 2025 Application Form

The Commission started the SSC GD online application with the release of the official notification. The candidates need to fill out the SSC GD application 2025. Most of the details in the online application form are taken from the registration itself. The candidates will be asked to select their exam centre and upload their recent photograph and signature. SSC GD application fee is INR 100.

SSC GD 2025 Application Status

The regional offices of the SSC will release the application status of the candidates who filled out the SSC GD applications. Application status only informs about the exam date. The exam centre is not mentioned in the application status. The application status is released ten days before the exam start date.

SSC GD 2025 admit card

The regional websites of the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) release the admit card four days before the candidate's exam date. SSC GD admit card is the essential document to get admission to the exam centre. The candidates are required to carry one government identity proof to establish their identity when asked for.

SSC GD Computer-Based Exam

SSC GD Constable is a computer-based exam (CBE) of 100 marks. The SSC GD question paper consists of 100 objective questions that candidates need to complete in a duration of 90 minutes. The exam is conducted based on the 

SSC GD Answer Key

The Commission releases the tentative answer key within one week of the last date of exam. The candidates are asked to send objections against the incorrect question/answer. Based on the feedback sent by the candidates, the final answer key is released and the result is prepared based on the final answer key.

SSC GD Result

The Commission releases the results online only mentioning the roll number of the qualified candidates. The candidates need to check their results online only and no separate communication will be sent to the candidates. SSC GD result 2025 for CBE is released on the official website of the Staff Selection Commission. Based on their performance in CBE, candidates are shortlisted for the next stage of the exam.

SSC GD PET/PST

SSC GD Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) are conducted at test centres finalised by CAPFs. In PET/PST, candidates must undergo physical tests such as race and other physical examinations.

Candidates are shortlisted for the Detailed Medical Examination (DME) of the SSC GD exam based on their performance in PET/PST.

Finally, candidates have to undergo a detailed medical exam (DME) conducted by CAPFs.

Final SSC GD Result

The final SSC GD result is declared by the Staff Selection Commission for candidates who qualify for all three stages of the exam. The result is declared on the basis of marks scored by candidates in CBE. It may be noted that PET/PST and DME are only qualifying in nature. 

The candidates selected in the final result are assigned to the opted forces and the states as per their preference and the vacancies.

The SSC GD constable is one of the most popular posts among high school-passed armed forces aspirants. This is due to the following perks provided to the SSC GD Constables: 1. A decent salary: The basic pay scale for the GD post ranges from Rs. 21,700 to Rs. 69,100. At entry level, you can expect an in-hand salary of Rs. 23,527. 2. Respect: You will have the opportunity to work in reputable central armed police forces such as the Border Security Force. 3. Allowance: You are eligible for other allowances such as transportation, field, and security allowances in addition to your salary as an SSC GD constable. 4. Other facilities: You are entitled to certain annual paid leaves and medical facilities. You can take advantage of GD pension schemes in your force. 5. Career growth: After your probation period is over, you will join as a general duty constable and become eligible for promotion after certain years. You can be promoted to the rank of Inspector after several promotions in your police force.

Q:   What are the qualifying cut-off marks for SSC GD?

A:

Candidates belonging to unreserved category need to secure minimum 30 per cent aggregate marks to qualify SSC GD exam. Have a look at the SSC GD qualifying cutoff percentage below:

  • General: 30 per cent
  • Other Backward Class (OBC)/ EWS: 25 per cent
  • Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ PwD: 20 per cent

It may be noted that the final SSC GD merit list is prepared only on the basis of candidates’ performance in SSC GD CBE exam. PET, PST and medical examination are only qualifying in nature.

Yes, after a certain number of years of service, a SSC GD constable is promoted. The SSC GD officer is on probation in her initial posting. After this, they join their respective forces as general duty constables and are eligible for promotion after a certain number of years. The following are the career promotions for SSC GD officers: 1. First promotion to senior constable post 2. Next promotion as the Head Constable 3. The third promotion of SSC GD constable is of Assistant Sub Inspector 4. Later they can be promoted to the post of Sub Inspector 5. Hi Milaram mula, the age relaxation for OBC (Other Backward Classes) category candidates in SSS GD exam is 3 years. They can get selected even if they have 3 years more aged than the general category students as they have 3 years age relaxation.
