UGC NET Application Form 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) activated the UGC NET 2024 December application form link on the official website at ugcnet.nta.ac.in. Interested candidates can apply for the December session from November 19 to December 10, 2024. The Last date for submission of examination fee (through Credit Card/ Debit Card/Net Banking /UPI is December 11, 2024 (upto 11:50 P.M). The UGC NET 2024 December session application correction window will be open from December 12 to December 13, 2024 (upto 11:50 P.M). Candidates who will complete the online application process for the UGC NET 2024 December cycle will appear for the exam to attain eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and/ or Assistant Professor. The UGC NET 2024 December session exam will be conducted from January 1, 2025 to January 19, 2025.

JRF is the abbreviated form of Junior Research Fellowship. It is a 2 years research programme awarded to UGC NET JRF qualified candidates. It is a scholarship programme through which students can pursue Ph.D. in their respective subjects. Candidates with Bachelor's degree, whether Science, engineering or any other discipline, will be eligible for fellowship only after getting registered/enrolled for PhD/integrated Ph.D. programme within the validity period of two years. SRF stands for Senior Research Fellowship which is awarded after the promotion from JRF.

Q:   I have not cleared the UGC NET exam. Can I appear for the exam again?

Yes you can definitely appear for the UGC NET exam again If you did not clear it in the first attempt. The UGC NET exam is conducted twice a year by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for the selection of Assistant Professor and award for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in various Indian Universities and Colleges. 

There is no limit on the number o attempts that you can makefor the UGC NET exam. However, you have to fulfill the eligibility criteria for the exam, which include having master's  degree with at least 55 per cent marks (50 per cent for reserved categories) or equivalent from the UGC recognised University. The age eligibility for the UGC NET exam has been given below for the candidates:

Candidates applying for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) should not be more than 30 years of age as on the first day of the month in which the UGC NET 2023 exam concludes.

  • OTP problem: After filling out the personal details candidates are not getting the OTP and automated registration number.

  • Uploading Photograph & Signature: The aspirants are facing problems while uploading their photographs and signatures after multiple attempts.

Solutions to Problems while filling out the application form 

Check Internet Speed: As more than 8 Lacs (approx) are trying to fill out the application form at once, the candidates are facing a server crash. The candidates are advised to use fast internet or wait for a few days to fill out the application form. 

Change in Application Particulars: The candidates are advised to check the application form thoroughly before submitting the application form. If the candidates have submitted the application form then they have to wait for the application correction window to make corrections in the application form. 

Photograph & Signature: The candidates are advised to check the dimensions and the size of the photograph and Signature before uploading it as the platform accepts the photograph and signature in a given range of sizes and formats. If the size and format are correct then the candidates are advised to wait for some time as it will be a server error due to the slow speed of the Internet or a server crash due to high traffic.

Multiple Payment: The candidates are advised to make multiple payments for the UGC NET 2023 application form. Once the payment is done, keep the payment receipt by your bank and wait for 72 hours. If the payment status is not successful within the time limit, then mail the problem to the UGC NET help desk explaining the problem in brief, and attach the payment receipt by your bank in the mail.

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria

The candidates must check the age eligibility criteria to appear in the UGC NET 2024 exam. The age eligibility for JRF and Assistant Professor has been given below for the candidates: 

UGC NET Educational Eligibility 

The UGC has updated the guidelines to fill out the application form for the UGC NET exam. Check the latest guidelines to appear in the UGC NET exam below:

  • From the UGC NET  2024 exam, candidates who have a four-year bachelor's degree course (in any stream) can appear for the UGC NET exam
  • The candidates who have completed their Master's degree can appear for the UGC NET exam

Age Limit for JRF

The applicants who are less than or equal to 30 years can apply for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). The candidates who fall under the category of SC/ST/OBC get relaxation according to UGC norms.

Age Limit for Assistant Professor 

There is no upper age limit to apply for the Assistant Professor exam. The candidates who have completed their post-graduation or appearing in their final year can apply for the UGC NET assistant professor. 

UGC NET Age Relaxation Criteria

The age relaxation for UGC NET/JRF exam has been given below for the candidates. The relaxation is given to the candidates according to the  UGC norms fixed by the Indian government:

  • The candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Female/PwD/Third Gender will get age relaxation upto 5 years 
  • The research scholars will get age relaxation of upto five years depending on the time span spent on research 
  • The LLM candidates will get up to 3 years of age relaxation 
  • Candidates who are from the armed forces will get upto 5 years of age relaxation depending on the time period of service in the defence forces

Q:   How many attempts are allowed in UGC NET exam?

A:
There is no limit to the number of attempts allowed for the UGC NET exam. As long as a candidate meets the eligibility criteria, they can appear for the exam in any number of attempts. The UGC NET exam is conducted twice a year, and candidates who are not able to qualify in one attempt can appear for the next cycle of the exam. However, it is important to note that candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria for each attempt and pay the application fee for each attempt separately. Also, candidates who have already qualified for the UGC NET exam are eligible to appear again for the same subject and category.

Q:   Will the application fees get refunded if I withdraw the application form, UGC NET?

No, the application fee is not refundable in any case. The candidates can make corrections to the application form but can't withdraw their application form for the UGC NET exam once it is submitted. The steps to make correction in the application form has been given below for the candidates: a) Visit the official website- UGC NET. NTA. Nic. In b) Click the Correction Window of Online Application form link c) Login using the application number, password, and security pin d) Click on the Correction in the application form link e) Read the instructions and click on the agreement box f) Make the required corrections g) Save and submit the form.

Q:   Is Adhaar Card mandatory to apply for UGC NET exam?

A:
No, the Aadhaar card number is not mandatory for applying for the UGC NET exam. The National Testing Agency NTA which conducts the UGC NET exam, accepts various other identity proofs such as passport number, driving license number, PAN card number, voter ID card number, and others for the purpose of identification. However, it is important to note that Aadhaar card is one of the acceptable identity proofs, and if you choose to provide Aadhaar card as your identity proof, then you must ensure that the details provided in the application form match with the details in your Aadhaar card. It is advisable to check the official notification for the exam to know the list of acceptable identity proofs and the guidelines for providing the same while filling the application form.
