Karnataka University Dharwad was established through The Karnataka University Act 1949 by the Bombay Legislature previously known as Bombay Presidency in 1949. However, in 1950, KUD finally became a statutory University. The University has 3 PG campuses, at Haveri (42 acres). Gadag (32 acres) and Karwar (6 acres).
