Karnataka University Dharwad was established through The Karnataka University Act 1949 by the Bombay Legislature previously known as Bombay Presidency in 1949. However, in 1950, KUD finally became a statutory University. The University has 3 PG campuses, at Haveri (42 acres). Gadag (32 acres) and Karwar (6 acres). The University has been approved by the UGC and is an Association of Indian Universities (AIU) member. Karnatak University is accredited with NAAC grade 'A'.
