The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore has appointed Rishikesha T Krishnan as the new director.
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore has announced that it has appointed Rishikesha T Krishnan as the new director. Krishnan has previously served as the director of IIM Indore. Earlier to that, he has also worked as a professor of corporate strategy and policy at IIM Bangalore.
Krishnan will take charge on July 31, upon the superannuation of G Raghuram, Director, IIM Bangalore.
He is also the founding director of IIM Sambalpur. He completed his studies at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, IIT-Kanpur, and Stanford University, USA. He has also co-authored books on innovation.
During his previous role at IIM Bangalore, Krishnan has led crucial activities at the institute including placement, research, running a Postgraduation Program, corporate strategy, and publications, etc.,” said a statement issued by IIM Bangalore.
He holds an experience of working in the corporate sector before getting into academia.
As per the statement released by IIM Bangalore, his main areas of interest are strategy and innovation. He was a visiting scholar at the Center for the Advanced Study of India, the University of Pennsylvania in 2008, and at the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad, over 2011-12. He held the Jamuna Raghavan Chair in Entrepreneurship at IIMB from 2007-10.
Professor Krishnan writes extensively and has more than 140 publications spanning outlets that include refereed journals, the popular press, case studies, book chapters, and books. These include two books on innovation: From Jugaad to Systematic Innovation: The Challenge for India, published in February 2010, and 8 Steps to Innovation: Going from Jugaad to Excellence (co-authored with Vinay Dabholkar, and published by HarperCollins in March 2013). The latter won the Best Book Award 2013-14 from the Indian Society for Training and Development.
