Students’ Speak: Recruiters expect you to have basic knowledge and be confident in communication during placements

Recruiters expect positive answers, basic knowledge of the subject, confidence of the candidate, good communication skills and ability to deal with difficult situations.

Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a two-year course. The first year is common for all the students with common subjects. Subjects are in a manner that you can get an idea of all the specialisations and exactly what do you have to do in a particular specialisation.

At Indira Institute of Business Management (IIBM), there are five specialisations which have to be selected in the second year of MBA. These specialisations are in finance, marketing, human resources, operations and information technology.

Placements are given according to the chosen specialisation.

IIBM provides placement assistance to all its students. Last year, the strength of students opting for finance was 75, 80 for marketing, 15 for HR, 12 for operations and 7 for IT. Among 75 students from finance, 85 percent were placed, the rate was 95 percent in HR while it was 80 percent and 50 percent for IT and operations, respectively. It was only marketing that witnessed 100 percent placements in reputed companies with good profiles and packages.

Nearly 98 percent of the students were placed in reputed companies such as 99acres, Pidilite, Morning Star, Aditya Birla group, ACSYS, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Jaro Education, Tikona, etc. The highest package offered was Rs 12 LPA, while the lowest was Rs 4 LPA.

Top companies that visited the campus for placements were Justdial, Pidilite, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Wipro, ITC, Morning Star, JIO, Morgan Stanley, Pinclick, Jaro Education, IIFL, Biltrax, Make bot, Square Yards, Sterling, Eclearx, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Property Pistol, Star Union Daichi, FIIT JEE, S&P Global, Entab Infotech Pvt Ltd, Motilal Oswal, Accord Fintech, Idea, Infosys, Angel Broking, Value Edge, Berger paints, etc.

Along with these HR-round questions, there were be technical-round questions too for respective specialisations and also, an Aptitude Test.

Recruiters expect positive answers, the basic knowledge of the subject, confidence of the candidate, good communication skills and the ability to deal with difficult situations.

A few challenges we faced during our placements were lack of aptitude preparation, work experience, etc.
