Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) has collaborated with the Asian Research & Training Institute for Skill Transfer (ARTIST) to uplift the preparedness of healthcare workers and medical staff across Karnataka.

Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) Bangalore has collaborated with the Asian Research & Training Institute for Skill Transfer (ARTIST) to uplift the preparedness of healthcare workers and medical staff across Karnataka. These health care workers include obstetricians, Gynaecologists, Nursing Staff and Paramedical staff involved in maternal and child healthcare in the state.

The high-intensity 90-minute training programme module is implemented through the Karnataka State Obstetrics and Gynecology Association in the state. It covers all the aspects of government and private hospitals, starting from the screening of patients and visitors at the entry gate, rational use of Personal Protective Equipment, organizing segregation of symptomatic patients, protocols to be followed for disinfection and reuse, standard operating procedures for labor room and operation theatre, management in wards, a summary of discharge and follow-up of the patients, appointment schedule and telecommunication through a video session.

Speaking about the collaboration, Dr Sacchidanand, Vice-Chancellor, RGUHS, said “All the hospitals must follow coronavirus protocol-based recommended practices and this programme is focused on training the healthcare workers across the state. The training material developed by ARTIST is in-line with the guidelines issued by Government of India, State Government, Indian Council for Medical Research, and WHO. The training programme will help in creating awareness among healthcare workers, preparing hospitals to face any kind of challenge apart from boosting the employees’ confidence.”

ARTIST is conducting training in other states like Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh as well for healthcare workers to help them to be prepared to do safe deliveries. ARTIST has now added the COVID PREPAREDNESS module to help the hospitals in resting and restarting their practices.
