AIIMS Bhubaneswar: OPD services of medical oncology inaugurated

The day care and OPD services of the medical oncology/haematology department of AIIMS Bhubaneswar are inaugurated and later the hospital plans to offer DM courses in medical oncology.

Day Care and OPD Services of the medical oncology division were inaugurated at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Medical Oncology OPDs to run on Tuesdays and Thursdays, day care services to run on all week days, said the official statement. 

The facilities were inaugurated by the AIIMS Bhubaneswar Director Mukesh Tripathi. The OPD services and day care of the medical oncology division are expected to fulfill the chemotherapy needs of cancer patients in the state and neighbouring states. In future, the hospital is planning to start the course of DM in medical oncology.

About DM in medical oncology

It is a super-speciality post doctorate course in the field of medicine. The branch of medicine deals with cancers and tumours. After successful completion of DM in medical oncology, the candidates can work in hospitals and research centres. The duration of the course is three years and it is a specialized field of medicine. 

Due to increase in the cancer cases, the government has made it mandatory for every hospital to have an oncology department and hence the demand for oncologists has also increased.

AIIMS Bhubaneswar celebrated Forensic Medicine Day

Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology at AIIMS Bhubaneswar organised the Forensic Medicine Day. The Head of the Department, Dr Manoj Kumar Mohanty inaugurated the academic function. He congratulated the trainee students for their interest in the field of Forensic Medicine and asked them to uplift the ethos of fraternity including truth, honesty, and integrity.
