Delhi University to Accept UGC NET Scores for PhD Admission 2024; Check Admission Guidelines

DU PhD admission 2024 will be based on UGC NET scores for the academic session 2024-25 Based on scores obtained in NET, candidates will be eligible for JRF, Assistant Professor and PhD categories.

DU PhD Admission 2024

Delhi University (DU) will accept UGC NET scores for PhD admission from the academic session 2024-25. The decision has been taken in accordance with the latest University Grants Commission (UGC) rule of accepting the National Eligibility Test (NET) scores for PhD admission in place of entrance tests conducted by different universities. The authorities will release the detailed DU PhD admission notification 2024 soon at admission.uod.ac.in.

“The University Grants Commission (UGC), vide its notification dated March 27, 2024, decided that from the academic session 2024-25, the National Eligibility Test (NET) score can be used for admission to PhD programs in place of entrance tests conducted by the different Universities/HEIs. Accordingly, from the academic session 2024-25, the University of Delhi will use the National Eligibility Test (NET) scores for admission to Ph.D. Programs.” The official notification reads.

DU PhD Admission 2024 Guidelines 

Students must adhere to the following Delhi University PhD admission guidelines: 

  1. Admission under the JRF category will be conducted based on UGC guidelines. 
  2. For students who will be appointed as assistant professors and admission to PhD, 70% weightage will be given to test scores and 30% weightage will be given to interview. 
  3. The marks secured in the NET exam will be valid for a period of one year for Delhi University PhD admission. 
  4. The university will conduct the entrance examination for programmes where UGC does not conduct NET examinations in the concerned subjects/disciplines.
