Dr. Santosh Kumar Singh, Sr. Scientist, Centre of Experimental Medicine and Surgery at Banaras Hindu University has been selected for the National award for outstanding efforts in science & technology communication through innovative and traditional methods. Singh holds a BSc degree in Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, MSc in Botany and PhD in Botany from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. He is known for his extensive drug discovery and development in the field of Microbial Biotechnology, Ethanopharmacology and Nanobiotechnology.
BHU had earlier announced that a senior research fellow has been selected for the globally reputed Nexus Assessment of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity & Ecosystem Services (IPBES) of the United Nations. Pradeep Kumar Dubey has been selected for the nexus assessment that will be prepared over the period of three years from the initial start of the assessment.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of its 107th Foundation Day, BHU launched a fundraising campaign, titled Pratidana: Mahamana Annual Fund. The campaign will be a living tribute to its founders and their glorious tradition of soliciting philanthropy. “Mahamana’s unmatched vision and passion brought BHU to life more than a century ago with the support of generous philanthropists. He would be proud that the institution he founded towers today as the Asia’s largest residential university and among India’s oldest and most prestigious institution of higher learning," the Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University, Prof. Sudhir K. Jain said,
“There can be no better tribute to his spirit and memory that propogating the tradition of selfless giving on which BHU was founded,” Jain added.
