DDMA meeting was held today to discuss the situation arising out of rising water level in Yamuna. All schools, colleges and universities in Delhi are being closed till Sunday.
Amid the rising level of the river Yamuna breaking last 45 year’s records, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority has directed that non-essential government offices, schools and colleges be closed till Sunday. Delhi Chief Minister through his official Twitter handle informed that all schools, colleges and universities will remain closed until Sunday. “DDMA meeting was held today to discuss the situation arising out of rising water level in Yamuna. All schools, colleges and universities in Delhi are being closed till Sunday,” the minister said.
Private establishments are advised to work from home, they said. The decision was made at the DDMA meeting held at the LG Secretariat here on Thursday. Commercial establishments around Kashmere Gate to be asked to close till Sunday. Buses coming to ISBT will stop at Singhu Border, and DTC buses will ferry people from there.
“All non-essential government offices are being done from work from home. Advisory is also being issued to private offices to implement work from home. Due to the closure of the water treatment plant, the supply of water will be affected by up to 25 percent. That's why water rationing will be done. Only large vehicles carrying essential services will be allowed to enter Delhi. All Delhiites should be patient, soon the water level will come down and the situation will be normal,” the minister further added.
