BSEB Board Exam 2024: A minimum of 75 percent attendance is mandatory for Class 9 to 12 students to appear for Bihar Board Exams 2024. Earlier, Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar directed all state universities to forbid students with less than  75 percent attendance from sitting in examinations.

Earlier, the board allowed the relaxation of criteria in cases up to 60%. However, it has been cancelled. It reiterated that students who do not have the minimum attendance will not be allowed to appear in the annual exam under any circumstances.

Informing students, teachers, school heads and parents of secondary and higher secondary schools in the state about the minimum attendance rule, the Bihar board has issued an order addressing everyone.

β€œIt is informed that the students studying in Class 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th in recognized educational institutions of secondary and higher secondary level of the state should have a minimum 75% attendance. Only those students will be allowed to appear in the secondary/intermediate board examinations conducted by the committee and in the annual examinations of Class 9th of secondary and Class 11th of intermediate,” the order read.

It is being interpreted that to appear in the Intermediate (Class 12) final exam, a minimum of 75 per cent attendance in both classes 11 and 12 and for Matric in both classes 9 and 10 is mandatory while this 75 per cent attendance requirement is separate for each class, and not combined, BSEB said.

Candidates with less than 60 per cent attendance will be considered for condonation only under exceptional circumstances on medical grounds, such as cancer, AIDS, TB or similar serious illnesses that require prolonged hospitalisation.
