With the upcoming CBSE Board Exams 2025, the Board has released attendance mandates to appear for the exams. In an official circular, CBSE highlighted the critical role that schools play in students' overall development beyond academic learning.

CBSE Board Exams 2025: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a reminder to schools regarding the examination bye-laws for the upcoming 2025 board exams, emphasizing that students must maintain at least 75% attendance to be eligible. The board allows a 25% relaxation only under specific circumstances such as medical emergencies or participation in national sports, provided that proper documentation is submitted.

CBSE 10th 12th Board Exams 2025: Importance of Regular Attendance

In an official circular, CBSE highlighted the critical role that schools play in students' overall development beyond academic learning. “Regular attendance is vital to ensuring holistic development,” the board stated, underlining the importance of extracurricular activities, teamwork, and character building.

Guidelines for Schools

To address attendance issues, CBSE has outlined several directives for schools:

Notification to Students and Parents: Schools must inform both students and their parents about the 75% attendance rule and the repercussions of failing to meet this requirement.

Leave Procedures: Students who fall ill are required to apply for leave with appropriate medical documentation. Unauthorized absences will be treated as violations of the attendance policy.

Absence Reporting: Students must provide written notice for any absence, and schools should keep detailed attendance records.

Monitoring Attendance: Schools are expected to update attendance registers daily and monitor attendance closely. If a student frequently misses classes, parents must be informed in writing about the potential consequences.

Inspections and Consequences: CBSE may conduct surprise inspections to verify attendance records. Incomplete records or frequent absences could lead to strict actions, including disaffiliation of the school and disqualification of students from the board exams.

Final Attendance Calculations for CBSE Board Exams 2025

CBSE will calculate student attendance as of January 1 of the academic session, with schools required to submit cases of attendance shortages by January 7. This proactive approach aims to ensure that students are not only prepared for their exams but also develop into responsible individuals.
