NCERT removes Mughal Court, Akbarnama, Badshahnama from Class XI, XII syllabus

As per the Education Ministry, no recent changes have been made by the NCERT yet, and the topics being discussed are changes made in the syllabus last year, in which some chapters were removed.

In line with various recommendations of the new National Education Policy, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has made major changes in school books. From the academic session 2023-24, several chapters on Mughal history have been removed from the history books of classes XI and XII.

Following the changes in the subjects now the history of the Mughals will not be taught in schools. This change has been made in the books of class XI and Class XII followed in CBSE schools.

For the academic session 2023-24, chapters on Mughal history have been removed from the history book of Class XII. Along with this, the chapter on American supremacy and the cold war has also been removed from the Civics books. While some topics of Indian History- Rulers and Mughal court have been removed from part- II. Students taking admission in the new academic session 2023-24 will have to read new books.

NCERT has made changes in the syllabus of History, Civics and Hindi. According to the NCRT, chapters on 'The Cold War Era' and 'US Hegemony in World Politics' have been removed from the civics textbook.

As per the Education Ministry, no recent changes have been made by NCERT yet, and the topics being discussed are changes made in the syllabus last year, in which some chapters were removed. It is also be said that these chapters were also removed because they were repeating.

On the other hand, NCERT has stated that no changes have been made to NCERT books. No chapter of the Mughal rule has been removed.

The changed NCERT Syllabus

As per reports, the chapter related to the Mughal Empire (Mughal Darbar, 16th and 17th centuries) has been removed from the history book Themes of Indian History-Part II. Apart from this, some paragraphs and poems have been removed from the Hindi book. NCERT told that the updated syllabus will be implemented from the current academic session i.e. 2023-24.

It is also being stated that the NCERT has done away with the chapter on The rise of Islam, the industrial revolution, the clash of cultures and the beginning of time were removed from the Class XI history book.

Lessons on the Cold War and American supremacy were removed from the civics textbook. The NCERT has removed the text related to the Mughal court and ruler from the class XII book of Indian History, Akbarnama, Badshahnama, the composition of manuscripts, Mughal emperors and their empire, ideal state, titles, royal bureaucracy, royal family, information and empire, a Mughal aristocracy which were taught earlier.
