NCERT states that since the development of new syllabus and textbooks is in the process and for that purpose various Curricular Area Groups of domain experts are being notified by the NCERT.
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has issued a statement on the school curriculum changes suggested by the expert committee. The Council has suggested to wait till the process of syllabus changes are complete.
As per reports, the committee has suggested changing the name of India into Bharat in all NCERT textbooks. The NCERT committee has suggested several changes in the school curriculum and syllabus and has also unanimously accepted the proposal to change the name of India to Bharat in all NCERT textbooks.
In a statement issued following the uproar over name change, NCERT has stated that the uproar on the recommendation of India to be mentioned as Bharat in NCERT’s Textbooks, on the news in media being flashed about changing the name of India into Bharat in all NCERT textbooks, NCERT states that since the development of new syllabus and textbooks is in the process and for that purpose various Curricular Area Groups of domain experts are being notified by the NCERT.
The council has termed uproar as ‘premature’, “So, it is too premature to comment on the news being flashed in the media on the concerned issue.”
The NCERT Expert Committee has recommended replacing ‘India’ with 'Bharat' in all school textbooks. The panel has also recommended introducing 'classical history' instead of 'ancient history' in school textbooks.
