COVID-19: IIM Indore shuts down campus; cancels exams, classes

The Indian Institute of Management Indore suspends all its classes and examination with immediate effect due to coronavirus outbreak and its rising cases in the country.

Amid the coronavirus outbreak globally, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore has announced that all classes and exams will remain suspended with immediate effect till further notice.

The Institute has also requested all the students to vacate their hostel accommodation and head back home. As per the statement released by the IIM Indore, in order to avoid any study loss, online classes will be conducted for the students until further notice.

Speaking on the closure of the campus due to coronavirus spread around the country Professor Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore, said that the parents and students had concerns over the rise of COVID-19 cases in the country and wanted their wards to be safe in such situation. So, we have to take this step and we are thankful to both the parents and students for supporting us and calmly facing the situation.

He also asked students to stay safe, Indore and take good care of your loved ones, especially the elder ones.

Students were informed about the suspension of classes and examination through the mail which they received from the director.

Further notice about classes and exams will be notified to students by their respective programmes offices. The institute also announced that the information about the placements and internships will be announced in the next few days. A total number of coronavirus cases as on Wednesday has reached 147 in India. Maharashtra reported a total of 42 positive cases which are highest in number in the country.
