IIM Bangalore, Florintree Advisors collaborate to establish Global Centre of Excellence
Named the Tony James Centre for Private Equity and Venture Capital (PEVC), this initiative aims to revolutionize the way private equity and venture capital are approached and studied.
The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B) has announced a significant collaboration with Florintree Advisors Private Limited, resulting in the creation of a new Global Centre of Excellence. Named the Tony James Centre for Private Equity and Venture Capital (PEVC), this initiative aims to revolutionize the way private equity and venture capital are approached and studied.
A Hub for Innovation and Collaboration
The Tony James Centre is designed to serve as a comprehensive hub for research, education, and industry engagement in the realm of PEVC. According to a press release, the centre will facilitate a dynamic ecosystem where academics, industry practitioners, and regulators work together to advance and support the development of talent in these fields.
Students at the centre will benefit from direct interactions with industry leaders, gaining invaluable hands-on experience and insights into the latest trends and practices in PEVC. The centre will also feature annual lectures by experts, conduct research on critical industry issues, and promote collaboration between academic institutions and industry stakeholders.
A Milestone Contribution
During the MoU exchange, Professor Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director of IIM Bangalore, expressed gratitude for the substantial contribution made by alumnus Mathew. “This is the largest ever contribution from an alumnus, and we are deeply thankful for Mathew’s support,” said Professor Krishnan. He also highlighted Mathew’s thoughtful gesture of naming four classrooms after faculty members who taught his batch and his clarity in establishing scholarships for Post Graduate Programme (PGP) and PhD students focused on finance.
The establishment of the Tony James Centre marks a milestone in IIM-B's commitment to advancing research and education in private equity and venture capital, positioning the institute as a leading force in these critical fields.
