The Union ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship has designed the MGNF programme. The programme has been implemented in collaboration with State Skill Development Missions (SSDMs).
Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Visakhapatnam’s first batch of Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship program (MGNF) participated in the Mivaan Society’s ‘Winter Warmth Drive’. The drive was conducted at three orphanages - Care and Love (Madhavadhara), Manasu Girls’ Home (Simhachalam) and Hope Blind Home (Vepagunta). Being part of the initiative, the MGNF students distributed earthen lamps, sweets, groceries, and blankets among the children.
Calling the MGNF students of the first batch visionary, empathetic and determined towards bringing a change in the society, MGNF Chair of IIM-Vizag, Dr Mohammad Shameem Jawed said, “Hence, as a step towards making a difference in the society, around 35 students came together to celebrate this festive season in association with the Mivaan Society to provide basic amenities to the orphaned children as well as to bring happiness in their lives.”
Talking about celebrating Diwali in a different way, Avugadda Phanendra Naidu, an MGNF student, said that every year they celebrate festivals with their family members. But this time, we wanted to extend our warmth to other people too. We took this initiative in collaboration with Mivaan Society and spent some quality time with children”.
