Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya Chief Guest at IIM Ahmedabad Healthcare Summit

The event will be graced by Mansukh Mandaviya, Union minister of health, and family welfare, and chemicals and fertilisers as the chief guest.

The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad) is all set to organise the inaugural edition of the IIMA Healthcare Summit on the theme 'Catalysing innovation - startup ecosystem and policy research’, on August 5, 2023, at its campus. The inaugural IIMA Healthcare Summit will comprise two panel discussions, a startup competition and submission of research papers. It aims at bringing together industry leaders, academics, researchers, and government officials on a common platform.

The event will be graced by Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Health, and family welfare, and chemicals and fertilisers as the chief guest.

IIM Ahmedabad director Bharat Bhasker will make the opening remarks while Pankaj R Patel, chairperson of the IIMA board of governors, will deliver the inaugural address on the occasion. The valedictory address will be by S Aparna, union secretary of Pharmaceuticals Department.

Joining them will be Tarun Jain, chairperson, Centre for Management of Health Services (CMHS), IIMA; Viswanath Pingali, executive member of CMHS and Associate Professor in Economics at IIMA as well as several business leaders and IIMA alumni. Speaking about the significance of this summit, Bhasker said, “The Indian healthcare sector is witnessing an unprecedented growth over the last few years. Technological advancements and innovations have further accelerated its growth making India one of the most sought- after healthcare services destinations across the world.”

“To ensure that this growth is widespread and sustainable, it is important that we look at promoting innovation and encourage start-ups as well as review our policy making efforts, to nurture a robusteco-system that will ensure a well- balanced growth of the healthcare sector across the country, from metros to remote areas,” he added.
