To ensure students don't suffer any academic loss during the lockdown period, the Rajasthan government from today will broadcast educational lesson on Doordarshan for classes 1 to 12.
Rajasthan Education Department will be starting virtual classes, Shiksha Darshan, for classes 1 to 12 students from today, June 1. The classes will be broadcasted on Doordarshan (DD) Rajasthan.
The decision to start virtual classes on DD was taken by the Rajasthan Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasra to ensure that the students don't suffer any study loss during the ongoing nationwide lockdown period.
A timetable has also been released by the education department to keep students informed about these virtual classes. The sessions will be broadcasted from 12:30 pm to 4:15 pm for Classes 1-12 on DD Rajasthan channel. The time slots for different classes vary and the classes are held for a duration of around one hour.
“Don't forget to watch DD Rajasthan from tomorrow,” the Education Minister tweeted.
In mid-March, the schools, colleges, and educational institutions across the country were shut as a preventive measure to contain further spread of coronavirus. After the lockdown, several states opted for online mode of education along with some broadcasting lessons through Doordarshan channels to students in different classes.
In mid-April, the Rajasthan Education Minister had written to the Central government to provide free slots in Doordarshan to conduct virtual classes considering the challenges faced by students with no internet connection.
In the letter, he had said: “All the measures that we have adopted for maintaining the academic calendar, relies on the internet and requires smartphones to be accessed.” It further added: “However students in hinterlands are getting affected as their families can't afford such facilities. Many such students are unable to take the online classes."
