Delhi University (DU) recently released a notification regarding the procedures for internal assessment, projects and viva voice, etc. for the semester exams in December 2020 for the principals of colleges and deans of departments. The notice also talked about the absence of physical classes this semester and the conduction of all the classes online. The varsity further stated that in place of three existing components of internal assessment such as class test, tutorial test and attendance, only one component would be defined as internal assessment and ould be carried out. In SOL this methodology would not be followed.

The official notice released by DU reads, β€œ Internal assessment of the students must also be carried out using IT tools. All teachers should give assignments to the students in the prescribed format in email and google classroom. Students would have to submit the solved assignments to the teacher via email at a defined time. After evaluation, the respective teacher will submit the result to the principal and the head of the department.” According to the variety, a few exercises can be done by the teachers online. The viva voice can be conducted through Skype or any online teaching platform specified by the teacher, said the notice.

Considering the present situation for internships and apprenticeship of the students was also directed to the deans and the principals by DU. They must be allowed to take online internships and activities that can be carried out digitally from home. Even the dissertations of various programmes at the varsity, be it UG or PG would be conducted on the basis of written assignments keeping in mind the present situations. The notice also asked teachers to look for other assignments and projects instead of conducting lab experiments.
