IIT Kharagpur has also identified 500 resource-constrained second-semester BTech students and they will be called to the campus from May 14 onwards. They will be able to attend online classes from Wi-Fi-enabled hostels.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has announced that it will begin offline classes for all courses from August 2. IIT Kharagpur had earlier issued the academic calendar 2022-23. As per the calendar, the examinations will be conducted in offline mode.
It must be noted that in the previous semester, students had refused to sit in end-semester exams in offline mode as the classes were conducted online. While speaking to the telegraphIndia, an IIT official said that the students have been informed that this year the classes will be held offline so that they don't have any objection to appearing for the exam in physical mode.
IIT Kharagpur has also identified 500 resource-constrained second-semester BTech students and they will be called to the campus from May 14 onwards. They will be able to attend online classes from Wi-Fi-enabled hostels. While they will be attending online classes now, from August 2 they will attend the physical classes, once they are promoted to next year.
The academic calendar further stated that at the very beginning of the year, all academic activities, except those for first-year students, will be held offline. The academic calendar also mentioned that except autumn semester, the mid-semester and end-semester exams of the spring semester will be conducted in the offline exams.
“Five-hundred students have been identified and they will be brought to the campus during a slot from May 14 to 25,” said Dhrubajyoti Sen, dean of students. The official said the decision has been taken after 20 to 25 first-year students had written to the dean of students about connectivity problems they were facing at home.
