According to the official notice released by the National Testing Agency, MPhil and PhD programme in the same field of study will have a common or single question paper for entrance. The notification further states that the JNU will conduct the entrance examination for both the programmes in the same field on the same day as per the schedule provided on the official website.
In case a candidate wishes to apply for both the programmes in the same field, they can apply for both and appear for only one entrance test and attempt the relevant question paper. The marks obtained by the candidates in the entrance examinations will be considered for the admissions to both the programmes. This will be applicable for only those who would opt for both MPhil and PhD programmes.

Considering the ongoing pandemic situation, the Jawaharlal Nehru University recently announced that the university will remain shut until August 31, 2020, as per the guidelines issued by the Union Home Affairs Ministry. The university is following the guidelines issued by the central government since the lockdown was initially announced on March 24, 2020, in order to contain the deadly novel coronavirus. To compensate for the loss of studies, the University is conducting online classes.
