Miranda House College Principal Bijayalaxmi Nanda has said that they have not received any complaints as of now regarding sexual harassment a day after chaos erupted at the Diwali fest on college premises. The principal said that "the college authorities had closed the doors as there was an unprecedented crowd on the day of the fest but some people tried to enter inside the premises."

"There was an unprecedented crowd on the day of the fest. We closed the gates of the colleges but students tried to enter by climbing the walls. Police took immediate action and they were really helpful. Students, teachers and all the staff were taken to safety," she said as reported by India Today.

"The matter has been taken into cognizance and all safety measures have been taken. So far, we have not received any complaints of sexual harassment. Police have been informed and they are checking all CCTV footage," she said.

Meanwhile, Delhi University's Miranda House has formed a sub-committee to revisit the whole process of holding events and providing an emergency SoP prohibiting open events without prior registrations. In an official notice, the principal said "the college has taken serious note of Friday's unprecedented incident during the Diwali Mela organised by the NSS Unit of Miranda House."

During the fest, several men were seen climbing the walls of college and gates to participate in an open Diwali fest on campus and indulged in cat-calling and sexist sloganeering. Several students shared the video of the same on the social media platform expressing their horror and concern over their safety.
