In order to help students to make up for their study loss during this time when all the universities and colleges have been closed around the country, the MHRD has released a list of e-learning resources for students. These resources can be used by students free of cost.
With educational institutions around the country shutting down amid coronavirus outbreak, students are opting for online studies to make up for their study loss during this period. In order to make online studies hassle-free, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has released a list of e-learning resources for the students which now can be accessed free of cost.
Following the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission in wake of rising cases of coronavirus, universities around the country have closed their respective campuses until March 31. Due to this, many students have started using digital learning methods to keep themselves updated and engaged. To help them, the MHRD has now released a list of e-learning resources which can be used by college students without paying any fee.
One of such online platform provided by the Ministry is SWAYAM, which is an e-learning platform providing more than 1,900 courses for both school and higher education. The courses which are provided on this platform is of engineering, humanities, social sciences, law, and management courses. It also lets students transfer their credits (maximum 20%) to their conventional streams.
Another such portal is SWAYAM Prabha which includes 32 DTH channels which are developed to telecast high-quality educational programmes on a 24X7 basis using the GSAT-15 satellite. These channels are free of cost and are made available to students through DD Free Dish Set Top Box and Antenna. These channels cover both schools and higher education courses. For school, it provides educational programmes starting from class 1 to 12. For higher education, it telecasts educational courses and content for undergraduate, postgraduate, engineering, Out-of-school children, vocational courses and teacher training. It also provides higher education courses in different streams like arts, science, commerce, performing arts, social sciences and humanities subjects, engineering, technology, law, medicine, agriculture.
Through these channels, students are also given certain projects that they can do at home, which are under different initiatives taken by the government of India like Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Jal Shakti Abhiyan, Ban on Single-Use Plastic and Fit India.
