Delhi University's Executive Council (EC) will meet today to discuss the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF) that has been drafted in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) for the academic session.

Earlier, this week, the DU Academic Council has passed the UGCF in a meeting, while 11 members dissented against its implementation. As per the reports, the UGCF is likely to be passed in the EC too.  Eleven members gave a dissent note against the framework, saying the UGCF 2022 must be sent for a discussion to all statutory bodies such as the committees of courses, staff councils and faculties, before taking it to the AC.

Delhi University had earlier given nod for the implementation of NEP and the four-year undergraduate programme (FYUP) from 2022-23. The UGCF is an attempt to include two of the most talked-about features of the National Education Policy (NEP)—the multi-disciplinarily and multiple exit points (leaving the course at the end of each year with a different degree). The new draft proposes a total of 176 credits. As per the new framework, to get a four-year UG degree with a major in a specific discipline, students will need to get a minimum of 50 per cent of credits (88) in that discipline.

However, the 11 dissented members claimed that the UGCF does not follow the framework as stipulated by the draft National Higher Education Qualifications Framework (NHEQF) on which the University Grants Commission (UGC) is seeking feedback. The note advised the university to compile the concerns raised in the statutory bodies on NEP recommendations, including on the UGCF, and send it to the UGC as feedback on the NHEQF.
