The Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA) India has written to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to expedite the NEET PG counselling process.
The Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA) India has requested the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to help in speeding up the NEET PG counselling process. The doctors' association has made this request through written submission and pointed towards the unusual delay in the admission process this year.
FORDA letter reads, "Due to the ongoing pandemic, the NEET-PG 2021 for admission to various post-graduate medical courses was unusually delayed this year. Subsequently, the entrance examination was conducted in September 2021 & the results were declared, bringing some relief for the PG aspirants as well as Resident Doctors currently pursuing their courses."
"We would hereby like to request you to kindly take note of the plight of Resident Doctors as well as PG Aspirants & take necessary measures for expediting the hearing in the pending case followed by directions for expediting the process of NEET-PG 2021 counselling," the letter added.
The doctors have said in the letter that due to multiple delays in the counselling process, the entire year of the upcoming PG Resident Doctors is on the verge of getting wasted.
The doctors' request has come in the backdrop of the NEET PG counselling process being halted as the matter of Other Backward Class (OBC) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) reservation in the All India Quota seats is still pending before the Supreme Court. The Central government has assured the apex court that the NEET PG Counselling process would not be conducted till the court gives the order in this matter.
