AICTE and NHIDCL Collaborate to Provide Hands-On Industry Experience for UG and PG Students
AICTE and NHIDCL signed a five-year MoU to offer internship opportunities for UG and PG students, detailing the roles and responsibilities of each organisation.
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL), a Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) operating under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India to provide internship opportunities for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students across India. This collaboration aims to offer students hands-on experience and practical exposure in the field of highway infrastructure and development, thereby enhancing their skills and employability in the sector.
The MoU was signed by Nitin Sharma, Executive Director of NHIDCL, and Dr. Buddha Chandrasekhar, Chief Coordinating Officer of AICTE, marking a significant step towards strengthening academia-industry linkage and creating a skilled workforce for the country’s infrastructure development.
The MoU, signed for a duration of five years, defines the respective roles and responsibilities of the AICTE and NHIDCL in this collaborative initiative. Under the terms of the MoU, AICTE is tasked with providing essential technical support, ensuring the platform’s functionality and smooth operation for facilitating internship opportunities. On the other hand, NHIDCL will take responsibility for programmatic oversight, focusing on the implementation of the program’s objectives and delivering non-technical support as needed.
This partnership is designed to provide students with a high-quality, well-supported internship experience that seamlessly integrates theoretical learning with hands-on, real-world applications in infrastructure and highway development. Dr. Krishan Kumar, Managing Director of NHIDCL, launched an online portal dedicated to the Internship Program, which aims to create meaningful experiential learning opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The program is especially focused on benefiting students in the North-Eastern Region, the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, as well as the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The launch of the portal was celebrated in the presence of officials from both NHIDCL and AICTE, marking a significant step forward in fostering industry-academic collaboration and skill development across India.
