AICTE-SIDM MoU to Bridge Academic Research

AICTE-SIDM MoU to Bridge Academic Research

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) exchanged a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) during a prestigious event at the Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi. The MoU was signed by AICTE Chairman Prof. T.G. Sitharam and SIDM President Dr. Rajinder Singh Bhatia, in the esteemed presence of India's Honourable Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh.

The MoU aims to forge a strong partnership between academia and the defence industry, focusing on developing a future-ready workforce for the Defence and Aerospace sectors from AICTE-approved institutions across India. A key highlight of this collaboration is its emphasis on faculty and student development through specialised programs designed to build capacity and foster growth in Defence and Aerospace education. Additionally, the partnership will facilitate industry internships for students in Defence and allied sectors, providing valuable hands-on experience and enhancing their employability.

Research and innovation play a pivotal role in this agreement, with AICTE and SIDM collaborating on research projects and pilot programs to tackle current and emerging challenges in the Defence industry. Additionally, awareness programs on critical and emerging technologies will be conducted to enhance academic institutions' understanding of these fields. To further boost national capabilities, specialized Defence and Aerospace educational programs will also be introduced in AICTE-affiliated universities and institutions.

Three-Year Strategic Partnership

The MoU, valid for three years, lays the foundation for future collaboration, ensuring the defence industry has access to a pool of highly skilled graduates trained in relevant fields. The exchange of the MoU in the presence of the Honourable Defence Minister reinforces the government's commitment to strengthening the relationship between educational institutions and industry, particularly in sectors crucial to national security.
